I’ve used Thinksport SPF 50+ for a few years for long-exposure days with no complaints. Last order was pre-COVID, and since I ordered this time from Amazon directly and the picture matched what I had previously, that I would get exactly that again. Instead, I received a differently packaged and differently named product (orange tube instead of red, labeled “SPF 50” instead of “SPF 50+”. However, both tubes have identical bar codes. Sometimes this kind of thing can be due to regional differences, so I went to the company’s indicated URL (which had itself changed) to investigate. At this writing, Thinksport is using both kinds of packaging on their tubes, but with both kinds having an accompanying text label “SPF 50+”, suggesting that “SPF 50” is interchangeable with “SPF 50+”, and the Amazon page lists it as “SPF 50+” as well.However, after closer comparison, it appears that there was a reformulation. Other than slight changes in names and in order of sequence (indicating changes of amount), following are mutually exclusive different inactive ingredients I came up with:Old red tube version includes: Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice Extract, Raspberry Seed Oil, Cranberry Seed Oil, Sorbitan Stearate (Coconut Based), Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C), Glucose Oxidase & Lactoperoxidase.New orange tube version includes: Polyglycery-4 Isosterate, Sorbitan Sesquioleate, Hexyl Laurate, Caprylhydroxamic Acid, Glyceryl Caprylate.The old version had the aloe listed as the second ingredient after water, so removing that is a fairly big change (I’m guessing for cost reasons). As for the rest, manufacturers of beauty and skin care products shuffle secondary ingredients like a deck of cards, so I don’t find those differences too concerning. The active ingredient is still labeled as zinc oxide; however, the label no longer says “non-nano”, but “non-nano” is still on the website ingredient label lists. Whether zinc particle size makes a big difference is something for your own research, but I find it strange that it’s listed on the website but not the new tube.Use, Warnings and Directions are still the same. The old red tube claims: “No PABA, parabens phthalates, BPA, Oxybenzone, Avobenzone, petroleum, dioxane or toxic chemicals”, as well as a line about being the first sunscreen to pass Whole Foods premium body care requirements. The new orange tube removes both those lines. Both tubes claim no animal testing, new orange tube adds vegan and “reef friendly” logos.TLDR: I’ll give the new version a shot and am provisionally rating at 4 stars based on past performance, but it’s definitely a reformulation, and Thinksport and Amazon should acknowledge that it’s a different product and in their text should use the new product label without the “+” to reflect that.

Do your research and you'll be hard pressed to find another sunscreen with a Zinc Oxide content higher than 23.4%. I apply this where I need it the most: on my face and forearms. Spent 7 days in the Caribbean, mostly outside, and just kept reapplying as necessary and it works. I honestly was skeptical with their marketing statements, a zinc sunscreen that is no sticky feeling… It doesn’t feel like zinc! The sunscreen absorb really well, but it leaves a little bit of white cast if your skin gets wet in a pool or river. I personally prefers this over feeling that I have a paste on. Good trade off if you prefer a physical over chemical sunscreen.

I will start with saying this product did seem to protect me from getting a sunburn. I was only in UV of 5 at the highest so it may not have necessarily been because of the sunscreen. It was as you would expect for a mineral sunscreen in terms of having to rub it in more to not leave a white residue. However, I was so greasy that it got all over my leather seats and had to scrub it off; still hasn’t come off the seats all the way. Once I got wet, I had white stripes everyone on me and had to rub the sunscreen in again. I took two showers and still could not be all the sunscreen off; it was so unpleasant feeling like my skin couldn’t breathe and couldn’t get it off. It does the job but would recommend a different mineral sunscreen before this one.

I have searched great lengths for a reef safe sunscreen and I think this is a great option. I have recently used this sunscreen on my Italy trip and have not burnt at all. I find a little goes a long way which is good as it is an expensive product. Yes, this will absolutely give you a white cast as it is physical sunscreen, however I used this sunscreen on the beach every day, boat trips, snorkelling etc and tbh I didn't really care if it left me with a white cast as my main priority was protection from sun and that the sunscreen was reef safe. Would I use this as an every day sunscreen? No. But for a water activities, I think its brilliant and I will be re-purchasing for my next trips.

Mein Pferd neigt zu starkem Sonnenbrand am Kopf, sodass ich nach langer Recherche auf diese Sonnencreme gestoßen bin. Die Creme basiert auf Zink, sodass sie die Heilung von bereits Geschädigter Haut beschleunigt. Außerdem ist die Creme sehr stabil gegen Umwelteinflüsse und hält bis zum nächsten Tag (am Kopf des Pferdes). Die Creme enthält keine Chemikalien, sodass sie meine Nail Manicure nicht angreift und ich sie auch selbst verwenden ohne Bedenken verwenden kann. Der Sommer geht nur noch mit der Sonnencreme von Thinksport! 😊
