Game is excellent! Packaging it was sent in was subpar and disappointing.
The game itself was excellent. Bought it for my 4 year old daughter to introduce her to board games.I was disappointed with the way it was sent. It was sent in an unpadded envelope and it came crushed. Needless to say, I was livid— especially as it was a Christmas gift and it was very close to Christmas. They did take a return and sent a new one but they sent in the exact same packaging.Luckily it was unharmed the second time around, but it could have easily been ruined again. I really feel this should have been sent differently.Game is super easy to learn, I am not sure I would try to teach anyone younger than 4 how to play— My 1.5 year old tries to play and turn taking is just a little too hard for, not to mention she doesn’t understand how to line up the paths.

Easy to learn, cooperative, fun for the whole family!

Fun family game and great for including kids as young as 5. Our two year old just played with the dice while we played the game (the dice are only needed for initial setup). The materials used are of a good quality and everything about it is great.

It's a bit of a chance game, in that you're drawing tiles at random hoping to get ones that let you build the path you need to build, but there's still some strategy in how to place those tiles to keep your options so you don't get screwed by getting a straight path when you need a bend.

Perhaps I should explain the game a bit.

The board is set up like a grid, the players work as a team to build a path of tiles that start at the top left and end at the bottom right. Along the way, the players must pickup 3 out of 4 keys that are placed randomly before play begins. The game is played by each player taking turns drawing tiles and placing them on the board on a space adjacent to the tiles that have already been played. Tiles are either straight, 90 degree bends, t-intersections or troll tiles (that advance the troll). The players must collect the keys and complete their path before the troll reaches the end space. The troll begins at the top right, and advances one space down the right side of the board for each troll tile pulled.

Believe it or not, it's not as easy as it sounds. You do have to use some strategy in how you build your path to maximize your chances of getting the keys you need and building your path to the end.

My 8 year old seemed to enjoy the game, the 2 year old definitely wasn't ready for it yet. Hopefully the older one will still find it interesting when the younger one is finally old enough to play, though I'm not sure if this will hold the interests of a kid in middle school or high school.

Update: 2 years later this is one of the best games we have that both the (now) 4 and 10 year old can play together. The pieces have held up perfectly, it really still looks brand new. I came across this when looking for more games by this company and decided to give an update since it has been such a great game for us :)

Awesome game to play with kids under (about) 10 years old. Some older ones might like it, but not challenging enough for middle school age. Make it harder by taking out the lunch box piece, or requiring 4 keys instead of the 3, or taking out path pieces while keeping the ogre pieces. Overall great game, except check you have all the pieces included and not warped (missing some and a few warped when I got mine. Replaced with another set).

Purchased this for my 3.5 year old. It is a very simple game, create a trail, collecting keys to unlock the treasure before the Ogre gets their first. My kids can place the path pieces and can do basic strategy.

One complaint is the cards do not stack well, and the stack will tip over if left unattended. To fix this we got a small drawstring bag and place the cards in it, and then take turns drawing from the sack, it also makes the game more exciting and harder because it’s easier to draw the ogre card. One game we drew 5 ogre cards in a row, which would have been more unlikely if we just stacked them.

Overall, a fun cooperative game for the young kids.

This game is very simple and basic. Can be played in less than 5-10 minutes. Directions were very simple, make a path from the start to the exit, collect 3 of 4 keys in the process and finish before drawing too many ogres. If you can pickup the lunchbox remove one drawn ogre. The simplicity of the directions made it simple enough for all ages and a quick start without learning a lot of rules. Each play is different since the path tiles drawn will be different shapes and the locations of the keys are selected before each game during setup by rolling dice.

Kids 3-6 yr old were able to play it together with older kids/adults with help. It feels too basic for older kids/adults to want to play on their own. But it is still challenging enough that older players can endure playing it as a fun family game with younger kids.

My one concern is the product is made with green or recycled or natural products, which is great, but in doing so, the game’s soy ink made the colors/crispness feel less professionally printed. The box insert, directions and game tokens had a bland ink/paper quality which is hard to describe other than feeling more like a kickstarter print quality than a mass produced game. The game tiles are super thin but also have an odd feel about them like they could be snapped right in half, but do have a nice beveled edge. The tiles had a textured/grain like finish making them feel like possibly they were printed on thin balsa wood or thin foam board but they lacked the usual dirt protectant gloss found on most other games’ pieces. This is an odd combination of design choices for a game likely played by younger players, but understandably side effects of the game’s focus on being eco-friendly. I wonder how the game will look after many play throughs after being heavily handled by kids. I think its more durable than paper cards found in other games, but I’m not sure if the tiles will just snap in two if bent/stepped on or handled wrong by younger hands.

This is a good little game for children under 8. You play as a team in a race against the Ogre to get to the treasure 1st. Easy to play you roll 2 dice to place 4 keys & an Ogre snack on the game board and the rest is just turning over cards which will either be a path or an Ogre. If it is a path you have to work out between you which direction to take on the game board to collect 3 of the 4 keys you need and possibly the Ogre snack which can be used to slow the Ogre down. If you turn over an Ogre card you place it on the Ogre's route to the treasure which is a straight route. Your route is longer than the Ogres but there are more path cards than Ogre cards. Part of the excitement for kids is what card will be turned over next and can you collect the keys and get your path to the treasure before the Ogre. I have played this quite a few times with my just turned 7 year old granddaughter and she has enjoyed it. On average you probably beat the Ogre 4 out of 5 times. Game lasts about 5-10 minutes.
