No signal drops, Very Solid modem
Excellent cable modem. I am very much a Linksys fan and bought their cable modem to go with my router and wireless access point. After numerous problems I checked the reviews to find a better cable modem. Excellent reviews led me to the surfboard.I switched to the Surfboard and have had excellent results. No lockups, no signal drops, everything works great. It also works just fine with all of my other Linksys routing equipment. If you are having connection drops or other issues with your current cable modem, this one is worth a try. It solved all of the issues I had with my previous cable modem. Does very good with online games as well.I am using it with Charter Communications.

I got this modem after being feed up with paying modem rental fees and boy am I glad I did! It is a solid performer and looks much better then my rental modem.
Setup was very easy and I had no problems. Took just a few minutes to get setup after providing the cable company with the MAC address and customer serial number of the modem. It has been on for 4 months now and the connection has never dropped. The standby feature is a nice extra if you will be away from your pc and want to protect it from the internet "nastiness".
The overall footprint of this modem is very small. I also love that it comes with a regular 2-prong plug and not a "Wall-Wart" block transformer plug (although it does have a transformer block in the middle of the cord.)
I also love that you can view the internal page diagnostics, which is helpful for troubleshooting. I have been able to use the internal diagnostics while going through a Netgear FR314, Linksys BEFSR41, and Cisco PIX 501 firewall (I could not do this on my previous modems.)
I have also noticed a slight speed increase with this modem over my previous Ericsson PipeRider and Motorola 4200 modems. The best part is that this modem's speed is much more consistent than the other two modems. I never worry if I will have great speed and reliability with this modem.
Overall, I'm very satisfied with this modem because it works great, looks great, and a small footprint. It is well worth the money.

I have been using the Road Runner internet service from Time Warner Cable for quite a while. To my surprise, TWC has decided to charge the modem lease fee since October for $3.95 per month. I don't want to pay this fee, so I decided to purchase this modem. It works will with my internet service, with 22Mb downloading rate and 1Mb uploading. Let's do the math: this modem costs $17.75, which pays off itself after four months. After that you have this modem and don't need to pay TWC any more. So, who still wants to lease one from TWC?

I decided to buy a modem after I saw my Comcast bill had gone up (again) and it was in part due to them raising their modem leasing fee from $3 to $5 per month.

This modem is almost the same model as the one I had leased through Comcast.

Installing it was easy. The only real difficult part of the whole thing was being on hold with Comcast for 45 minutes - and never speaking to someone.

Be forewarned that if you get your cable internet through Comcast that you may have some "down time" - you have to give them the MAC address listed on the bottom of your modem and then they will probably tell you it could be up to 24 hours before they get it processed and you are able to get online.

Now this is a review of the modem, not Comcast and I have to say that the modem has been running perfectly and it is going to end up saving me money in the long run.

My advice if you have to deal with your internet provider is to plan to install your modem when you do not need to be online again immediately.

i got the package super fast. the packaging was awesome and the product worked well out of the box! no complains what so ever. A+++ for the seller and his service via amazon.
i was worried that buying old modems will be a problem: I have Comcast service, and if this modem was previously given out by the company, the serial no. is recorded. The logic of I trying to save some money by having my own modem would not work as Comcast would show that it is a company issued modem. A lot of people sell their modems, but no one really tells you: 1. if they are selling a rented modem. 2. Was this modem on a previous company 3. did they buy the modem or got it from their ISP.
So, I had to keep my fingers crossed until the modem arrived and check it while i was on the phone with Comcast customer service.

It went through well, and I am extremely happy as I save a lot of money!! $5/month for rental fee is ridiculous. This guy can work on DOC SYS v2.0 also which is way faster for my needs and use. I am on DOC SYS v1.0 and its more than what i need.

SO, if you are a home user, student or someone who is tired of paying the ISP's stupid rental fee, then go for this option! it is cheap and above all will give you piece of mind and relief on your pockets. More money for beer now!

My cable company dropped their support of this router. It's out of date! There are a lot of newer models out that would be better suited. The price is good, and it did work great while we had it, but in our case it's not even useable anymore. We ended up sending it back about a week after we had it and bought a newer version.
