I am a big fan of the two authors' website, but this book takes a bunch of topical journalism and interviews from said site and jumbles it together. There is no real editing to drive a narrative, and it reads bizarrely because all the quotes are from executives and marketing approved messages from a number of vendors.

I'm not sure who the target audience is, it was sponsored by Xilinx so maybe an echo chamber for executives and corporate governance to point to to "prove" that the market is developing? As a downstream user, engineer, or CTO you aren't going to be qualified to do much of anything after reading this book. It's not even a great springboard to other sources.

The only take away is that various vendors have forged post-CPU acceleration plans: Intel's Altera+Xeons, IBM's OpenPower+Xilinx+Nvidia, Nvidia+CPU, FPGA+ARM. There are a few early adoption companies mostly using RTLs like Verilog and VHDL. Nobody expects FPGAs to breech deep into datacenters unless as part of applaince-style solutions, or a language shift takes place with OpenCL offered as the primary contender.

I see a bright future for FPGAs, but this book wont help you get there.
