Unable to add accessory **** Issue resolved - Review updated ****
***** Updated review - Problem resolved - Sensors now pairing after identifying issue and changing router settingAfter spending another frustrating day trying to get these sensors working I found a document on the internet indicating that devices using the Matter standard require that IPv6 be enabled on the router. I have an Orbi mesh router so I logged into it and found that IPv6 is disabled by default. I enabled IPv6 and was immediately able to easily pair the Eve Motion sensors. I passed this information to the Eve support team and suggested they should make this information available in their documentation and on their support website since other people are experiencing the same issue based on the 1 and 2 star reviews that I read. I am changing my rating from 1 star to 4 stars now that I have resolved the issue and the sensors are working perfectly. I am taking off one star because basic troubleshooting information to resolve issues like this should be available on Eve’s website.I've been trying to find a highly reliable motion sensor that could be used outdoors under my eves for lighting control. They would replace my outdated Z-Wave system that has been in use approximately 15 years. I would use them with Apple Home. The Eve Motion sensors seemed perfect and there were lots of good reviews so I purchased three of them. They arrived the next day.I use a 4K Apple TV running the latest tvOS as my hub so according to the instructions I shouldn't have any problems pairing the motion sensors to my Apple Home using my iPad or iPhone which also had the latest version of iOS installed. Sadly things didn't go smoothly. Despite factory resetting the sensors, installing new batteries, modifying my WiFi network, restarting all of my devices, changing network settings, and using every possible suggestion found on the web I never successfully paired any of the three motion sensors. In each case the dreaded "Unable to Add Accessory" message would appear, sometimes after several minutes with hopefully messages such as 'connecting' and then 'setting up.' Even worse, there doesn't appear to be any way to get reasonably fast customer support from Eve. After much frustration I am returning these sensors to Amazon and will look for other solutions that work. Before purchasing these sensors do yourself a favor and read some of the 1 and 2 star reviews. Had I done so before making my purchase I probably could have avoided wasting six hours of my day and a great deal of frustration. Hopefully someday Eve will acknowledge and resolve the issue to that I can once again purchase their products. Until then I am going to wait until the issues are resolved.

I bought this sensor and really like it. It's fast and reliable over Thread. It allows you to set the hardware timeout that determines how long the sensor stays in the motion state. It also has a light sensor in it, so the user can create automations based on the amount of light in the room.

The motion sensor stopped working within 3 days after I bought it. Taking the batteries out and putting them in again fixed the problem, but then after a few days the problem would come back again. I contacted Eve product support and they immediately told me this issue is a known problem and told me how to fix it. After the fix, the sensor has been working great since then. So, I would advise people to contact Eve if their sensor is not working correctly.

Also the sensor detects my presence at a distance of about 15 feet with the sensitivity setting set to Medium.

Very good product and good product support. The sensor is using Thread as the tranport and not Bluetooth.

Very good product and good product support.

This is a great motion sensor I'm using in combination with the Eve Smart Switch to automatically turn on the lights in each of our bathrooms around the house. Set up an automation in Apple HomeKit and bam - you're set! The only issue is the mounting isn't as easy as most sensors I've used in the past. The battery lid is on the back of the device. The back of the device also has a screw hole for mounting to the wall which is nice, but it means that you'll have to use this as the only way to mount it to the wall. The other issue I have is the QR code to add the device to your smart home system is printed on the bottom of the device so everyone can see it when this is mounted to the wall using the mounting hole. Odd. Overall, if they changed those two design flaws, this would be a perfect motion sensor. Other than that, it works very well and is easy to connect to your smart home. However, you'll need to ensure you have the Thread protocol on your network or it won't connect at all. I literally had to upgrade my Apple TV to the latest version in order to use Thread. Yes, I could have purchase a Thread hub, but why spend the money when I get a two-fer by upgrading my Apple TV, right? Right. Anyway, this is a decent motion sensor that works well.

At the time of this writing 6 months after release, Eve's website lists Eve Motion (Matter) as supported on Google Home and Android, among other platforms, but the level of support is almost unusable.

Eve has no Android app, so there is no way to configure the device except through the Google Home app. This means that you can add the device to your network and see its status, but there's no direct way to link it to do things like turn lights on or off. (Technically, you can create automations that will turn your lights on and off when the sensor detects occupancy or no occupancy, but they're unusable -- the lights turn on when you enter the room, but if you sit still for more than a few seconds they will flip off immediately. Desperate users can read some of the other amazon comments for scripts that can be used to work around this problem, if you want to get into scripting.)

Eve support says this is Google and Amazon's problem to fix (apparently it's a problem on Amazon as well), and yes I expect at some point the smarthome platforms will catch up and provide better support for configuring motion sensors. But the real problem here is that Eve says they support Google Home but provides no app to configure it (they do on iOS, so this isn't a problem on iOS or Apple Home). Sure it would be nice if Google Home and Alexa provided controls for motion sensors, but Eve shouldn't release a product and say it supports a platform if there's no way to configure it on that platform. That's on Eve, not on Google or Amazon.

Perhaps this will change, but for now it's clear that Eve released this product without a plan for how to really support Google Home and Android. They should update their website and this amazon listing to make this much more clear until they have a better solution.

This motion detector works great and simple to set up with Google Home. We had someone go up onto our porch and steal a cheap wooden bench in the middle of the night so bought this to create a routine that if motion is detected on the porch it will turn on the lights in two different rooms, turn up the volume on one of our home speakers and trigger a 30 second doorbell and barking dog audio file to trigger our dogs to start barking. Then when motion is no longer detected it will turn off the lights. This was super simple to do in the google home app by following the setup to connect it to Google Home.

The one thing I believe most people miss is that when setting up you have to ensure the network you are on is 2.4ghz. I did make the initial mistake of forgetting this and the unit would not work. Realizing this, I simply removed it from google home, connected to our 2.4ghz bandwidth and then reset up and once that was done everything was simple to set up and then create a routine for it as mentioned above. One thing that would help users is if they could show what wifi network the unit is connected to in Google Home. I cannot speak to the SmartThings app as I did not want another app install.

The detection is pretty good, range was a bit too long for us to point it toward the street as it would trigger when cars passed by about 30-35 feet away, so had to point it toward the house. The cone of detection seems to be about 160-170ish degrees so works for our purpose and we don't get false alarms now from cars or people walking on the street.

Overall, this works quite well as intended was super easy to set up. Once realized the 2.4ghz was required, it too a total of about 15-20 mins to connect to Google Home and have routines set up. It does require a hub to connect to, so keep that in mind also if you do not have a Google, SmartThings or other compatible hub already.

I bought this at a discount through warehouse deals and am please with its simplicity and effectiveness.

Many creative ways exist to use the device to trigger everything from notifications on your phone to various types of automations like turning on light when you enter a room.

Security, automations, fun creative uses. We keep ours not anchored anywhere specific and move its location based on use.

Is the kid awake, when we aren’t in earshot?

Is there movement by the basement windows at night when we aren’t at home?

Turn on the light in the laundry room when entered.

If there’s no more movement detected for 10m, turn off lights.

When the light level is this much (sunrise/morning) turn off lights.

The device has a motion sensor and a light level (lux) sensor.

Keep in mind many of these automations need other devices to function, smart lights, bridge/hub..
