    I have an Aqara temperature sensor and a remote switch on my backyard's bird enclosure.The temperature sensor controls the bird’s heater so it must be 100% reliable.The remote switch is used after I clean and bleach their water bowl. It flushes it with fresh water for five minutes.But both items were going offline because the Zigbee signal from the hub in my living room was not strong enough.So I needed to mount another hub outdoors for these two devices to communicate using the Zigbee protocol.But Aqara does not make an outdoor hub.So I mounted an Aqara hub inside a glass jar that I repurposed. Then I sealed the wire going in with a cable gland so that it was watertight.

    I wasn't even sure if I needed this or not, but I bought it. It is not very expensive but it works extremely well. Since the light switches are repeaters and I have a few of them in the house, I feel like I have a pretty well connected Aqara Zigbee system. Once I get the M3 hub, I will move the location of the E1 hub just to extend the system a little further. But so far it is working very well.

    Its kind of annoying that it’s a usb powered device, I wanted to just stick it with my network gear but had to get creative and find a power brick to use with it.

    I bought this to give me remote control access to my U100 Smart Lock. I had trouble trying to add the unit in the app.

    Helpful things I learned on Reddit forums:

    Wifi: I have an Eero mesh system ( 6E-Pro units) So I unplugged all of the units except my main router and put the network in 2.4ghz mode during setup. This allowed the unit to connect to my wifi. I have had no issues with the unit staying on the network with the other Eero units plugged back in and 5ghz turned back on.

    Homekit: I could not get the unit to add to the Aqara App. But once I added it to home kit it showed up in the app after about an hour. It also allowed me to bind my smart lock to the Hub.

    This unit great cost-effective unit that just adds more functionality to my U100 smart lock which I am very happy with.

    I bought this device along with a sensor with the hope of integrating my Alexa thermostats with a sensor. My goal was to address the issue of one of my kids' rooms being excessively cold, and I wanted the flexibility to adjust the sensor to a different room than where the thermostat was originally placed.

    Having used Nest devices in the past, which offered a convenient sensor to adjust room temperatures, my expectations were high. Unfortunately, this product falls short. Instead of providing the ability to control the temperature in specific rooms, it merely notifies me of the temperature in the designated space.

    The user experience (UX) was clunky, and I found myself fussing with the setup, including the addition of the Alexa skill. In hindsight, I regret not sticking with Nest Thermostats entirely, as they had previously met my needs more effectively. Now, I find myself navigating a rabbit hole in search of a solution to the initial problem. Overall, not the seamless experience I was hoping for.

    As always, Aqara stuff was easy to install and works as it should. I needed the hub for my blind motor they sell so that was accepted and it also works as a wifi extender.

    A wider reach for our wifi was always needed in my house, our Lay-z-Spa is wifi but we couldn't use the remote options in the garden as no wifi connection, and this hub has solved that issue, which was hugely pleasing. We have two bars now where we struggled to get one and the spa is not able to be controlled.

    The hub is about 20-25 ft from the spa, through a wall to the outside.

    Anfangs ließ sich das Hub nicht im WLAN einbinden, bis ich in der Anleitung gelesen habe, dass man das 5Ghz Netzwerk ausschalten muss. Anschließend ging die Einbindung problemlos. Auch nach dem zuschalten des 5Ghz läuft das Hub sehr zuverlässig. Die Einbindung von Geräten läuft auch problemlos. Allerdings muss man aufpassen von wo die Geräte sind, da manche mit einem Ländercode versehen sind. D.h. das man z.B. Sensoren aus China nur auf dem chinesischen Server einbinden kann. Man kann zwar problemlos zwischen den Servern hin und her schalten aber was auf dem chinesischen Server registriert ist agiert nicht mit Geräten auf dem deutschen Server.
