Alex Badia

Style Director

Born and raised in Barcelona, Badia studied at the European University in Barcelona and Paris, where he obtained a business degree. Following his undergraduate studies, Badia earned a master's degree in business and communication from the University of London. With a heartfelt love for fashion since childhood, he crossed the Atlantic to come to New York City, studying at FIT and immersing himself in the world of fashion. He has never looked back. In 1999, Badia joined Fairchild’s DNR. He left to work at O, The Oprah Magazine in 2001. The next year, Badia returned to Fairchild’s DNR as Associate Fashion Editor. In 2009, he moved to WWD as a fashion editor, and in 2013 he became WWD’s Style Director, overseeing women’s, men’s, and the accessories markets. As the leading editor and head of the Fashion Department, Badia oversees all fashion shoots and trend stories for multiple categories, including couture, men’s and women’s RTW, watches, and jewelry, among many others. Considered an expert and authority, he has covered men’s and women’s fashion shows and the industry as a whole for over two decades. His obsession with newness, together with his respect for history, provides a one-of-a-kind insight into creating modern content with studied context and perspective. Today, Badia also contributes to fashion direction and editorial for Rolling Stone, Variety, and The Robb Report on a regular basis. From covering the Golden Globes live from the red carpet to sunglass still life shoots and everything else in between, Badia’s thoughtful exploration, wit, and humor have helped him become a leading fashion force in the media landscape today. Widely recognized and admired throughout the industry, Badia frequently appears on best-dressed lists and is featured in style coverage. Alex calls Greenwich Village home, where he lives with his husband and cat, Lulu. He speaks Spanish, Catalan, Italian, and French.
