Full Trailer for Japanese Remake of ‘Cube’ Triggers Several Traps [Video]

Published

Before directing films such as Splice and In the Tall Grass, as well as several episodes of NBC’s “Hannibal,” Vincenzo Natali launched a franchise with the sci-fi/horror movie Cube, which was released in 1997 and spawned a sequel as well as a prequel. Remake talks have come and gone over the years, and recently we’ve learned that one was just made over in Japan.

Furthermore, Natali is an executive producer of the Japanese version of Cube.

Like the original, Shimizu’s Cube will trap several characters in an endless maze containing deadly traps. The plot synopsis from the remake’s official website reads, “A mysterious cube. 6 men and women are suddenly trapped in Cube. It’s unclear where this is, why they are trapped, whether there is an exit, whether they can survive, or what the room even is.”

A new trailer and official poster art were sent over by Fabien M., and while the new footage is incredibly suspenseful, there is no promise of any of the bloodshed seen in the original film, but we will see heat-sensitive lasers, wire slicers, and flame jets!

Directed by Yasuhiko Shimizu, Cube is set for release in Japan on October 22.
