Jun 29 at 19:01 comment added Simon Crase @Rhymehouse Antarctica has plenty of krill, and penguins; bacteria thrive all over the Earth's surface, including the Sahara and Antarctica; "Some bacteria were found living in the cold and dark in a lake buried a half-mile deep under the ice in Antarctica." Life adapts to its environment, so it can be argued that each critter already lives in a [nearly] ideal environment, for itself.

Jun 29 at 1:21 comment added Rhymehouse @RonJohn there are huge swaths of planet Earth where life can't flourish at all like Antarctica, Sahara Desert, and most of the Ocean. Earth is amazing compared to other planets in the Solar System, but it isn't the ideal planet for life.
Jun 28 at 15:01 comment added RonJohn What's imperfect for life about Earth? Honestly... "tropical rainforest" is just one type of habitat, and the major complaint about them is that their soils are very shallow.
