In addition to its mostly inert nature, and voice changing characteristics, SF6 can cause irritation of the lungs and throat, as well as pulmanory edemas if you breath too much of it. In an SF6-laden atmosphere, the rescuers would operate under a ticking clock on their time to complete the rescue.
