  • $\begingroup$ This does depend on how much crap they have to carry, humans have amazing endurance but make awful pack animals. $\endgroup$

  • $\begingroup$ I'm 69. I recently did 120 km in 6 days over rugged mountain trail with a 45 lb pack. Few horses can carry 1/4 of their weight on a day in day out basis. When I was younger 60 lb pack, and longer days. Don't discount the human pack animal. It's just more of the weight is for their own comfort. $\endgroup$ Commented Jul 31, 2022 at 17:16
