Accessible raw ore deposits that can be used to extract a given metal might become depleted deposits, but the ubiquity of iron doesn't influence gold to convert to iron. Obscure religions attract fewer converts than popular religions. Also, a religion doesn't remain completely unchanged when passed from parents to children.
