Apr 26 at 0:12 | comment | added | Ren Eh Daycart | @KeithMcClary Can I quote a fragment of one sentence? "Because the total population is fixed and membership growth involves addressing people who are increasingly more difficult to convert [...]" Converting people to a religion isn't like mining a particular metal. Accessible raw ore deposits that can be used to extract a given metal might become depleted deposits, but the ubiquity of iron doesn't influence gold to convert to iron. Obscure religions attract fewer converts than popular religions. Also, a religion doesn't remain completely unchanged when passed from parents to children.

Aug 13, 2018 at 19:02 | comment | added | Keith McClary | I lazily cut'n'pasted the capitalised title. There appear to be published versions, but they are paywalled. I thought a mathematical theory of how religions spread might be of interest.

Aug 11, 2018 at 20:49 | comment | added | JBH | If Nero couldn't stamp out Christianity, it's hard to conceive of a realistic situation short of it never happening.
