Star ratings

I have radio buttons with the options of star ratings, using asterisks

e.g. [radio features default:1 "*****" "****" "***" "**" "*"]

But when I have a condional to show a group if features does not equal ***** then the form does not work, ie it does not show the group.

If I cahnge the features options to text e.g. “great” “needs improvement” and use one of those as conditional, it all works as expected.

So I presume the asterisks are confusing thin gs. Is there a way round this to show a typical star rating with a conditional?
