Pursuant to 5 U.S.C. § 552a(e)(3), this Privacy Act Statement serves to inform you of why the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is requesting the information on this site.

AUTHORITY: 
DHS is authorized to collect the information requested on this form pursuant to Section 515 of the Treasury and General Government Appropriations Act for Fiscal Year 2001 (Public Law 106-554, app C § 515, 114 Stat. 2763A-153-4 (Dec 21, 2000)); and OMB Guidelines for Ensuring and Maximizing the Quality, Objectivity, Utility, and Integrity of Information Disseminated by Federal Agencies; Republication (67 FR 8452, February 22, 2002).

PURPOSE: 
Interested members of the public can voluntarily subscribe to an email update list via http://www.dhs.gov/ and determine which areas of interest they would like to receive updates (i.e., privacy, immigration, border security, etc.). Users engaging the DHS GovDelivery system expect privacy protections while interacting with the Department. Subscribers may create a password to secure their subscription preferences, but it is not required. DHS will only use the email addresses provided by the users to send email messages related to the topics selected by the user in the GovDelivery system.

ROUTINE USES: 
The information collected may be disclosed as generally permitted under 5 U.S.C. § 552a(b) of the Privacy Act of 1974, as amended. GovDelivery collects a minimal amount of contact information in order to distribute information and perform various other administrative tasks and is covered by DHS/ALL-002 - Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Mailing and Other Lists System (http://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/FR-2008-11-25/html/E8-28053.htm) November 25, 2008, 73 FR 71659 Subscriber information is not regularly shared with outside government agencies, foreign partners or contractors.
