OWENSBORO, Ky. (WTVQ)- State police say a suspect is dead in Owensboro after he charged two police officers with a knife.
Troopers say at that point, the Owensboro Police officers, identified as 51-year-old Mike Matthews and 43-year-old Gary Mattingly opened fire on the suspect, killing him.
That man has been identified by KSP as 29-year-old Lucas Anderson, of Owensboro. The OPD officers were not hurt and have been placed on paid administrative leave.
Troopers say the officers were called for a domestic dispute and witnessed Anderson grabbing a woman by her hair and holding a knife to her neck. They say Anderson charged as the officers tried to negotiate with him.
Troopers say the female victim was taken to the hospital suffering from cuts to her head and neck.
The investigation is ongoing.
