On Saturday night, Canelo Alvarez, USA TODAY/Boxing Junkie’s No. 7-ranked pound-for-pound fighter, will try to hand England’s Liam Smith his first career loss and take Smith’s WBO 154-pound title when the fighters meet at AT&T Stadium in Dallas, the home of the NFL Dallas Cowboys. More the 50,000 people are expected to be on hand at the cavernous stadium to watch the popular Mexican redhead (47-1-1, 33 KOs), the former lineal middleweight champion, try to stay on track for a highly anticipated showdown, perhaps next year, against Gennady Golovkin.
