VOTE EVERYWHERE
104 STUDENT AMBASSADORS. 42 UNIVERSITIES. 19 STATES.
Vote Everywhere is a nonpartisan, experiential program that recruits, trains and supports emerging leaders at America’s colleges and universities. Our students strengthen democracy by leading long-term voter engagement, public policy and social justice initiatives.
AMBASSADORS
The Vote Everywhere Ambassadorship is a one-to-three year commitment. Students typically enter the program in their sophomore year and are encouraged to continue throughout their academic career, building strategic organizing skills while advocating for their community’s voting and civil rights. Vote Everywhere Ambassadors receive training on leadership, voter engagement, community-organizing and campaigning. To support their work, Ambassadors receive a stipend, activities budget and ongoing mentorship via The AGF’s network of social change leaders. SCHOOL PARTNERS
Vote Everywhere partners with college campuses that share The AGF’s commitment to nonpartisan civic and political engagement. We advance and deepen each school’s civic engagement work by identifying, training, and supporting emerging campus leaders. In addition, the Vote Everywhere program enables colleges and universities to seamlessly comply with the voter registration requirements set forth in the Higher Education Act. The Act requires most colleges to make a good faith effort to distribute voter registration forms→
CAMPUS CHAMPIONS
AGF’s school partners appoint a professional staff member to serve as a Campus Champion. Champions create meaningful experiences for students by connecting them to related campus initiatives and providing access to events and relevant opportunities.
NATIONAL IMPACT
We’re interested in systemic change, not temporary results. Unlike many ad-hoc millennial voter engagement initiatives, Vote Everywhere is a multi-year effort, supporting and empowering student leaders throughout their college careers. Our programmatic structure – long-term student involvement at fixed campus locations – allows for the establishment of an effective leadership pipeline. Vote Everywhere students and the systems they put in place have a profound power to effect change on the ground.
✔ Louisiana State University Ambassadors raised awareness about the state’s higher education budget crisis by bringing the issue to the steps of the Capitol; spearheading a march that unified thousands of students, community members, and politicians.
✔ Simpson College Ambassadors successfully established a system for students to receive formal lease agreements from the College’s Office of Residence Life, thereby fulfilling Iowa’s residency requirement permanently and allowing thousands to vote.
✔ Allegheny College Ambassadors campaigned for a dorm search policy that respected the rights of all students.
✔ Binghamton University Ambassadors worked closely with local election officials to redistrict the school’s voting districts. Under the previous law, students, who often switch dorms annually, had to register to vote at each new residence or lose their right to vote. Together, the Ambassadors and local election officials put an end to this needless barrier.
