Dating can be hard for anyone, no matter the gender identity. But, we have some tips on how to make dating a non-binary person a little easier.
Simply put, a “non-binary relationship” is a romantic relationship containing at least one person who identifies as non-binary. “Non-Binary” is a term used to mean someone whose gender identity does not fall into the two gender categories of “male” or “female”.
Some people might prefer “non-binary” as an identifier, and this is also inclusive of (but not limited to) identities such as gender fluid, genderqueer, agender, bigender, polygender, gender neutral, or gender non-conforming.
There are a ton of celebrities who identify as non-binary or gender fluid. This includes “Lipstick Lover” singer Janelle Monae, Tony award-winning actors Alex Newell and J. Harrison Ghee, queer icon and Queer Eye host Jonathan Van Ness, and Irish Eurovision star Bambie Thug.
As you can see, there’s no one way to “look non-binary”!
Good question! This is completely up to the parents and family in question. Some folks just use first names. Some folks use either “nini” or “bibi”, taken from the N and B of Non-Binary.
Sometimes, names can include parental nicknames taken from other languages. There are also options such as “par”, “per”, or “ren”, taken from the inherently gender-neutral word “parent”, and some nonbinary parents don’t have an issue with good ole “mom” and “dad”.
Be respectful of whatever terms folks want to use, and it should all be good from there 🙂
