"She was excited to be a mother": Missing pregnant teen found dead in Barnwell

BARNWELL COUNTY, S.C. (WACH) — A missing pregnant 17-year-old was found dead on Sunday afternoon, according to the Broken Link Foundation.

Maylashia Hogg was 9 months pregnant and was due on February 14, but found dead, according to officials.

Her family calling on the public and police to help them get the answers to find out what happened to Maylashia.

On Monday, they built a memorial where she and her unborn baby girl were found.

"Whoever did it needs to be in jail," said her cousin Robert Payne. "She was only a child. A child with a child."

Hogg was set to be induced on February 13.

According to her cousin she was last seen on February 8.

The teens family said she had already named her daughter London Charity after her mother who passed a year and a half ago.

"She was excited to be a mom," shared Payne. "I know somebody did something to her."

Hogg's body was found less than half a mile from where she lived, according to Kimberly Kite with the Broken Link Foundation.

Family members say Maylashia talked about having her baby and being the best mom ever, but when she missed her appointment on February 13 they knew she was in danger.
