Updates

  • VIETNAM HAS JUST RELEASED ITS FIRST-EVER STANDARDS FOR PRODUCTS AND SERVICES SAFEGUARDING CHILDREN IN THE ONLINE ENVIRONMENT The Vietnam Information Security Association (VNISA) has recently introduced the foundational standard TCCS:03/2024-VNISA on "Technical Requirements for Products, Services Protecting Children in the Online Environment." The ACE – World Vision International in Vietnam, in collaboration with businesses and organizations from the Vietnam Child Safety Club in Cyberspace (VCSC), contributed to the development of these standards. These standards establish essential criteria for products and services aimed at protecting children online, tailored to meet Vietnam's specific needs. They aimed to improve the assessment of such products and services, promote a secure ecosystem of digital products and applications for children, and enhance access to solutions that ensure children's safety in educational institutions and households. Despite Vietnam's rapid economic growth, access to clean water remains a significant challenge, especially in rural and mountainous areas. A report from the Vietnam General Statistics Office and UNICEF Vietnam in 2021 revealed that only 54% of people in Vietnam had access to safely managed water services, with a considerable gap between urban and rural areas (74.7% versus 43.6%). Contaminated sources, poor infrastructure, and industrial pollution worsen the situation. Many communities rely on unsafe water, leading to health issues such as diarrhoea, cholera, and other waterborne diseases.    Rural and mountainous regions in World Vision International in Vietnam's working areas face an even more dire situation due to the lack of physical infrastructure and financial capacity. Recently, our National Director, Mr. Doseba T. Sinay visited Huong Hoa and Dakrong Area Progamme, located in Quang Tri Province in central Vietnam with colleagues, Ms. Hayley Elling - WASH Manager from World Vision USA and Mr. Alexander Pandian - World Vision East Asia WASH Regional Advisor. In Huong Hoa District, only 42.9% of households use basic sanitation facilities. During our visit, we had the opportunity to meet with the District Program Management Board and visit the clean water project activities implemented there. Listening to the community's needs was eye-opening, we see that a solid approach to water infrastructure and effective regulations are key to ensuring everyone in Vietnam can access clean water, thereby improving public health and quality of life. Stay tuned for more updates on our efforts to make clean water a reality for all! #WorldVisionVietNam #wvivietnam #WASH #children #childwellbeing #cleanwater

  • Last week, 35 World Vision International in Vietnam staff took part in the Advanced Orientation event. This event is meant to provide deeper insights into the core values, strategies, and approaches of World Vision International in Vietnam for staff working for 4 to 12 months. It was heartening to hear from participants at the event, with one remarking, "What I will bring home after the event is a deeper understanding of the functions and connections of departments, and at the same time help myself understand the value of the work I am doing." Another participant expressed, "Through this workshop, I have the opportunity to get acquainted with the functional departments, clearly understand the role and, importantly, know whom to turn to when there is a related task." A heartfelt hope was also shared, "Hopefully all new staff will participate to receive useful knowledge." This event serves to express appreciation for each staff while contributing to the organization's commitment to investing in talented individuals and fostering personal and professional development. Looking ahead, we aim to continue implementing more activities and training programs to support the ongoing professional development of our talented staff. #WorldVisionVietNam #wvivietnam #children #staffdeveloment #ChangeMakers

  • "My family and I are overjoyed to have received support for duck farming. I will do my best to take good care of the ducks following the project's technical instructions. Hopefully, the duck flock will be highly effective, allowing my family to earn more income to cover our living expenses and support my child's education!"- happily shared Mrs Thoa (first picture), who lives in Luong Son commune, Thuong Xuan district, Thanh Hoa province. Mrs Thoa's happiness is shared by 120 other households in Thuong Xuan district participating in the Value Chain-based Livestock Breeding. This initiative is a collaboration between World Vision International in Vietnam and Mavin Group. Each household will receive 100 3-day-old ducklings, bran, and instructions on breeding techniques. The ducks are expected to mature after about 45-50 days, enabling the families to sell them to improve their income or use them in meals to enhance their nutrition. Take a look at the duck breeding handover ceremony photos! #WorldVisionVietNam #wvivietnam #children #childwellbeing #livelihoods #MAVINGroup
