Magnet Releasing has acquired all North American rights to Israeli thriller “Big Bad Wolves” from XYZ Films before its Cannes screenings.

The movie had its world premiere in April at the Tribeca Film Festival and is being screened at Cannes through 6 Sales, which is handling international rights.

Magnet, the genre arm of Magnolia Pictures, is planning a theatrical release for later this year. “Big Bad Wolves” was produced by Chilik Michaeli, Avraham Pirchi, Tami Leon, Moshe Edery and Leon Edery. Aharon Keshales and Navot Papushado directed from their own script.

Lior Ashkenazi, Rotem Keinan, Tzahi Grad and Dov Glickman star in “Wolves,” which centers on a series of brutal murders that puts the lives of three men on a collision course — the father of the latest victim, a vigilante police detective and the main suspect in the killings.

The deal was negotiated by Magnet’s Peter Van Steemburg with Nate Bolotin of XYZ Films.
