BUENOS AIRES — Argentine adventure-suspense drama “Historias extraordinarias” (Extraordinary Stories) swept the eighth Tandil Cine, a growing film festival in the Argentinean province of Buenos Aires that wrappedJune 28.

The four-hour tale of an obsessed man took the Centinela del Cine Award for film and got Mariano Llinas (“Balnearios”) kudos as director and screenwriter. It also earned nods for cinematography, production and set design, and the public picked it as favorite.

Wins follow jury and audience kudos in the homegrown features competition at this year’s Buenos Aires Intl. Festival of Independent Film, the country’s most important.

Ana Katz and Carlos Portaluppi scooped the actor awards for performances in Katz-helmed “Una novia errante” (A Wandering Bride), the tale of a girl moving on after getting dumped by her boyfriend.

The jury awarded a special mention to helmer Sandra Gugliotta (“A Lucky Day”) for “Las vidas posibles” (Possible Lives), a mystery about a missing geologist.

Lucia Puenzo‘s 2007 Cannes-laurelled hermaphrodite drama “XXY” won debut fiction and screenplay. Lucia Cedron picked up director for “Cordero de dios” (Lamb of God), with Malena Solda taking actress for the Sundance-acclaimed kidnap drama.

Jorge Roman scooped actor for his role as a gay reed harvester in Santiago Otheguy’s “La Leon.”

Martin Sola’s “Caja cerrada,” a look at the lives of fishermen, took documentary.
