In the face of climate change, we are

Undaunted is fostering a thriving innovation ecosystem that aims to make London and the UK a great place to start and scale intelligent, sustainable solutions to the climate challenge at pace.

The challenge is huge, but we are Undaunted

Time is running out to halt the climate crisis, and our window of opportunity to create a greener, more sustainable future is closing fast. We need practical solutions on a scale never achieved before. Innovation is crucial.

We envision a world with a healthy, global climate innovation ecosystem, where diverse innovators leading businesses of all sizes can deliver significant emissions reductions and climate resilience sustainably and at scale.

Over the past 12 years, we have developed and refined our model for accelerating applicable, practical and adaptable solutions that make a difference on a global scale.

We’re a partnership

Undaunted is a partnership between two world-renowned scientific institutions: Imperial College London and the Royal Institution.

Grown in Imperial’s Grantham Institute for Climate Change and the Environment, Undaunted has climate expertise, science and passion for the planet in our DNA. Over the past decade, Imperial has produced more climate change innovation startups than any other UK university, creating an entire ecosystem of support at its campus in White City, at the heart of London’s newest innovation district. There, academics and startups alike have access to modern, state-of-the-art lab facilities set within collaborative, co-working spaces that encourage interaction between the College and the wider research and innovation ecosystem.

The Royal Institution (Ri) has a prestigious history of bringing the public and scientists together to share their interest and passion for science, empowering people to explore and get involved. Since 1799 its many eminent scientists, whose discoveries helped to shape the modern world, have recognised the importance of sharing their work. Today, the Ri’s vision is for a world where everyone is inspired to think more deeply about science and its place in our lives. Undaunted benefits from its location within the Ri’s historic home in Mayfair, London, offering proximity to investors and a platform for public engagement while extending its international reach.

What we do

Undaunted builds a bridge from the experimentation and discovery stage of climate technology, nurturing innovation until it is ready to be scaled up. Our activities stimulate the commercial sector to follow and develop a wider ecosystem where green solutions can flourish.

Our activities encompass The Greenhouse – our long-running climate innovation accelerator programme; education in climate innovation and accelerating to Net Zero emissions; and a year-round programme of community building, education, policy and public engagement activity. With close to 150 successful climate businesses graduating from Undaunted to date, we are creating the blueprint for a successful climate innovation ecosystem.
