The Role:


We are seeking a well-rounded Technical/Solution Architect to join our team. This role requires a deep understanding of AWS and Java technologies, with a focus on delivering high-quality technical designs that align with enterprise architecture principles. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in public sector projects and a strong ability to bridge the gap between technical and non-technical stakeholders.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Lead, deliver, and support the technical design of products or parts of shared platforms to meet user needs and business objectives.
  • Ensure high quality of technical design and adherence to enterprise architecture principles and roadmaps.
  • Collaborate with digital professions in agile delivery teams to create value-for-money solution designs that meet user needs.
  • Engage with Enterprise Architects, Domain Architects, Lead Solution Architects, and engineering teams to implement solutions according to agreed and approved architecture designs.
  • Be accountable for product architecture in alignment with engineering.
  • Identify, capture, share, and iterate architecture patterns to ensure consistent and coherent architecture design.
  • Implement architecture patterns, creating reference architectures as real-world examples of successful architecture design.
  • Create solution options and recommendations during project discovery and inception phases to drive decision-making on the best solution design.
  • Make technology choices for products in conjunction with the enterprise architecture blueprint.
  • Contribute to building an inclusive digital culture within the department.


Technical Skills/Expertise Required:


  • Able to listen to and interpret the needs of technical and business stakeholders, capable of proactive and reactive communication.
  • Deep understanding of technical concepts and how they fit into the wider technical landscape, with awareness of digital technology limitations.
  • Ability to design systems characterised by medium levels of risk, impact, and complexity, ensuring efficient use of resources and integration of multiple systems.
  • Work with and challenge senior stakeholders, prioritising and mitigating constraints, and adapting approaches as needed.
  • technical solutions across multiple business areas, drawing links between problems to reach common solutions.
  • Engage in prototyping as a team activity, establishing and iterating design patterns, and choosing appropriate methods.
  • API and Event-Based architecture design patterns, including pub-sub and data streaming.
  • Architecting event-based architecture across multiple data centres and public clouds.
  • API Gateway and micro-gateway patterns and capabilities (e.g., Kong API Gateway).
  • Agile/DevOps delivery methodologies and best practices.
  • Microservice and API-Led architecture and integration design tools, techniques, and best practices.
  • Public cloud technologies, cloud hosting, container, and networking design patterns, tools, and best practices.
  • Commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) solutions and relational databases.


Essential Requirements:


  • Extensive public sector experience.
  • GDS (Government Digital Service) experience.
  • Experience working with vendors and other suppliers.

Our Talent Acquisition Team will be in touch to advise you on the next steps. We have a two-stage interview process for most of our consultants. In certain cases, we may include a third and final stage, which is a conversation with the company Partners. This will only be considered if deemed necessary.
