Job Title: Fleet IT Technical Engineer

Job Description

  • The Fleet IT Technical Engineer role works in an outsourced environment to provide IT technical knowledge and practical infrastructure delivery of services to our client’s fleet of vessels globally located.
  • The successful candidate will have experience and capability of preparing and configuration of end user kit and an understanding of the interdependency of IT infrastructure services.
  • This role is based in our Aberdeen Office but there will be travel globally to our fleet of 30 plus vessels to carry out planned project work.
  • Although the technologies you will be exposed to in this role are broad It is expected that you will have a niche skill in provision of PCs (desktops/laptops/workstations) and printers.
  • This role also has a requirement for ordering and logistics of kit globally and working closely with our logistic team.

The successful candidate will have the following;

  • Ability to build, configure and deliver to a defined design specification
  • Work with Fleet IT Team Manager & Project Manager to provide technical project delivery.
  • Complete standardised technical & project documentation.
  • Define projects requirements. Working together with our client and stakeholders in business areas to ensure projects are delivered successfully.
  • Keep up to date with industry standards and developments
  • Have proven IT implementation skills
  • Excellent communication both verbal and written
  • Strong team player mindset
  • An ability to foster good professional relationships with client and project stakeholders.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines with a pragmatic and flexible approach.
  • Enthusiastic, energetic and self-motivated.
  • Flexibility to travel
  • Some experience and exposure to offshore/vessel environment is desirable.

Professional Qualifications / Experience

  • IT degree level education or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of and practical experience of some of the following (or at least a broad knowledge of interdependencies);
  • MS Operating systems (W2012 -W2022)
  • Hyper V
  • Active Directory
  • Infrastructure Hardware building
  • Windows 10, 11
  • SCCM & Intune builds
  • Service Now
  • M365
  • MFA
  • Knowledge of industry standards and current technology trends.
  • Understanding of IT operational risk management, project delivery and service methodologies (e.g. ITIL, ISO).
