The Purpose

Working in partnership with Oldham Academy North and E-ACT Royton & Crompton Academy the roles purpose is to:


  • Manage both school’s sports facilities and oversee the academy lettings.
  • Drive sustainable community links and partnerships.
  • Be creative and innovative to develop strong local relationship and maximise academy income.


The Role


  • Ensure that enough income is generated to cover all costs, including salaries.
  • Managing all community sports facilities and academy lettings. These include 3G pitch, Football pitch, Sports hall, activity studio, classrooms, and any other space within the academy available. Be familiar with such facilities.
  • Developing a sustainable bookings system for the facilities.
  • Liaising with local community groups to offer access to the school site and support for programs already existing locally.
  • Evaluating staffing needs and presenting sustainable staffing plans and business cases to support.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including late evenings (up to 10pm) at short notice, weekends and academy holidays such as Easter and half term.
  • Work collaboratively with local sports providers including the universities and local authority.
  • Developing and implementing the agreed brand vision.
  • Supporting the Regional Business Leader and Headteachers within the Academy/School.
  • Establishing and managing annual budgeting, ensuring monthly cost centre report, quarterly forecasts and budget planning are provided to the Academy/Schools.
  • To undertake any other duties appropriate to the grade of the post as requested by the Regional Business Leader and/or Headteacher.
  • Ensuring everything is done safely, fairly, effectively, and efficiently (strong governance).
  • Planning and delivering is to the best of standards (high quality).
  • Capture the success and impact of your work (monitoring and evaluation).
  • Responsibility to safeguard the welfare of children and adults at risk.
  • Shifts will be 3 x evening shifts (2pm-10pm), 1 x day shift (9am-5pm) and 1 x weekend shift (8am-4pm)


The Person:


  • To want to make a positive difference to young people.
  • Hard working, enthusiastic and reliable
  • People Skills (Self-assured, build rapport, empathise with others, emotionally intelligent, approachable.
  • Understanding of Safeguarding best practice
  • Knowledge of implementing policies and procedures, especially health and safety and risk assessments.
  • Previous experience Working in a school environment and embedding local community.
  • Experience working within a team and building relationships with external partners.
  • Experience Scoping, delivering, and evaluating a range of programmes.
  • Strong with ICT
  • Written and spoken communication skills.
  • The ability to work with young people with varying social skills and in positions of disadvantage.
  • Ability to engage with a range of stakeholders to achieve strategic and contractual objectives.
  • A full UK driving licence with access to own car for business use.
  • Recognised coaching qualifications – Desirable
