5G wouldn't exist without Ivan Bretan (some would say) 😇 Ivan has contributed to Telia’s success for decades, dedicating his expertise primarily to mobile services. In 2016, he recognized the potential of 5G for enterprises and progressed quickly from a small lab test to launching Sweden’s first large-scale public 5G network in 2020. Simultaneously, Ivan and his team established a 5G innovation network for research and development, now known as NorthStar. Thanks to the vast potential of 5G, Ivan's work is driving advancements in industries such as automotive and transport. Moreover, NorthStar is paving the way for innovations in remote and decentralized healthcare, as well as enhancing power grids to support electrification. It was a privilege to discuss the pain and progress of our Ericsson journey towards putting skills to work with Michelle Ockers in her Learning Uncut podcast. Three years of transforming our job and skills infrastructure to help us move the needle towards being more of a skills based organisation.   Identifying the skills that matter for our jobs and connecting skills to strategy has been a major effort that has helped to define our direction to create learning with a purpose. A huge program of work focused on creating a solution that is simple, dynamic and automated.   Our guiding principle throughout this journey has been "visible simplicity." We've worked to maintain consistency across all systems and processes, helping our employees better navigate their career paths and identify development opportunities. This approach has been enabled and realised with the support of our tech partners - thanks to Techwolf, Degreed, Eightfold and SuccessFactors.   At times it felt like a lot of pain for little gain. However each step has provided valuable lessons from aligning global teams, managing complex systems, and ensuring employee buy-in. We unpack key lessons in the podcast including starting and ending with business value, and being persistent and adaptable.   Despite the challenges, the benefits have been clear. Employees now have a more transparent view of their career pathways, started out on our skill-based approach to recruitment and building skills based learning journeys. In the end its about moving beyond the infrastructure, putting skills to work and squeezing out the value. Of course no one delivers this type of change alone so always thankful for the efforts of many Ericsson people who shared the same ambition and purpose.   So if you are passionate about skills and as addicted as I am to podcasts then please have a listen. Ericsson and Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME) continue to strengthen their long-standing partnership. Their collaboration over the past three decades has led to significant advancements, including over 30 patents, more than 1,000 publications, and the training of over 100 PhD students. With nearly half of Ericsson's R&D engineers in Budapest coming from BME, their alignment in education and research is clear. Both institutions are now focusing on future goals, exploring further opportunities within the EU's Horizon Europe framework and leveraging the BME High-Speed Network Laboratory's international expertise in 5G networks. From nurturing talent and research, BME and Ericsson have created a dynamic ecosystem that fuels technological progress. During Earth Week, I’m inspired by how, together with our customers, we are combining technology with sustainability to achieve our joint Net Zero ambitions. One of my favourite recent examples: in a trial, one of our customers deployed our triple-band, tri-sector 5G Radio 6646 and managed to reduce energy consumption by up to 40 percent. Following the successful trial, this technology is now being rolled out on a large scale in their network, with potential total annual electricity savings amounting to 30 million kilowatt hours. In our latest Sustainability and Corporate Responsibility report, we also announced achieving a 30% reduction in energy consumption at a typical new radio site compared to 2021. With this, we are well on our way to achieving our portfolio energy performance target of 40% reduction by 2025 – and work towards becoming Net Zero across our value chain by 2040. #EarthWeek #5G #ClimateAction

The recent Ericsson ConsumerLab research on extended reality (XR) sheds more light on the potential of XR technology to transform consumer experiences. 🔄 The report highlights that while consumers currently face challenges with smartphone augmented reality (AR) experiences and the limited availability of user-friendly XR headsets/glasses, the combination of smartphones and augmented or mixed reality devices has the power to enhance consumer AR experiences. As we look to the future, several trends are expected to shape the XR landscape: 🔍 The combined use of smartphones and AR devices is set to double in the next five years, indicating a significant shift in consumer behavior and expectations. 🔍 As AR develops further due to greater geospatial awareness it will lead to more diverse experiences that will depend on the broad range of capabilities 5G provides. 🔍 There is a growing demand for on-the-go AR devices, with consumers willing to pay a premium for portability. We had a good start to the year! Orange Polska reported solid results in #1Q2024, both financial as well as commercial. Operational profitability EBITDAaL increased by nearly 5% year-on-year. The most important result of the quarter is that revenues from our core telco services are solid and continued their strong performance growing by more than 4% year-on-year. All our key services gain new customers and build value.  This quarter was not without headwinds that affected our total revenues evolution year-on-year, particularly our IT&IS business that facing a cyclical slowdown due to broader IT market dynamic and lower demand from public sector. This business line was an important growth driver in the past and will remain a key focus for us, as we are confident that the integrated IT services and solutions will generate significant value in the future.   Thanks to investments in the development and quality of our network, customers have gained access to the latest technologies. We have already made available the best 5G mobile connectivity at speed of up to over 1 Gb/s, on approximately 1,400 base stations in over 160 cities and towns in Poland. We also started offering ultrafast optical fiber with speeds of up to 8 Gb/s, meeting the needs of the most demanding users.   Our customers are increasingly using digital tools such as My Orange App or buying our service and products online - last quarter already 23% of sales acts were made in digital channels. These solutions are convenient for customers, and at the same time they support our efficiency.   We are on track to meeting full-year & .Grow strategy objectives.   Thank you #OrangeTeam #LeadTheFuture
