What is Havas set to lose here though? Surely the concern is that major businesses start to no longer see value in B-Corp - ad agency networks are unlikely to favour it over big fee paying clients unless it’s expected of them to gain those accounts. If there isn’t a major consequence then what will stop others from simply doing the same thing? 🌍😳 #advertising #environmentalism #shell #Havas #bcorp

Some early reflections on the impact of Labour’s stonking victory, shared with PRWeek UK on behalf of WA Communications … “Despite the subplots and media obsession with the rise of Reform, the fundamental truth is Labour’s landslide means Keir Starmer enters no10 with a huge electoral mandate and the ability to dominate the next Parliament - but also massive challenges and expectations to manage, not least from within his own Party. Most businesses (and their public affairs/comms advisers) should have seen this coming and prepared accordingly. This means an honest reassessment of risk and opportunities, both in terms of policy and reputation. The size of the majority means Labour will be able to enact their programme for government with limited opposition. Being able to get a hearing and make sure you have a say on the future regulatory framework affecting your business or sector, will now depend on how well you can demonstrate an understanding of what they are trying to achieve and the monkeys on their shoulders - failing public services, an anaemic economy and the urgent need to generate growth and spread the benefits (jobs, jobs, jobs) around the country. The business of politics never stops and the countdown to the next election starts today, so making a fast start will be essential. We’ve all got some fun times ahead.” What do you think? Omar Oakes in The Media Leader UK on the increasing gulf between the media that produce content with its attendant cost and risk versus those that take their content from users, without risk and where the 'cost' is revenue share (hardly the same thing). Advertising spend performs several functions including provision of the funding for high quality content to advertise in. Making good content is a risky business and if media owners don't get the ad revenues they need, they will rely more heavily on lower cost and less risky content. Or eventually disappear. Too much of advertisers' money goes into their extended supply-chains, intermediaries and media that has no content cost or risk and which is less effective at reaching audiences and delivering business. Speed and volume are currently publishers’ top priorities. At Reach PLC and News UK in particular, digital reporters are increasingly taking on more of an editing role, allowing them to get content up quickly. 🔍 Find the right contacts. Make effort to actually learn who are the journalists on your patch, who specialise in the area, and target those people. 📰 Understand the media, and their priorities. Everyone on your PR team should be consuming a different newspaper every day. Having that familiarity with output is key to 72Point being able to translate a PR brief to a piece of news content and know that it will be approved for use by publishers. 👤 Remember the power of case studies.
