What do you do if your previous experience isn't helping you advance in B2B Marketing Strategy?
If you are in-work, consider what the company can support you in accessing. B2B Marketing conferences, roundtables and other events are brilliant ways to absorb first hand practical advice. Consider taking a more pro-active approach to finding a coach or mentor - identify people you admire, and reach out to them to ask if they are interested in sharing experiences on projects you've each worked on to exhange notes and ideas.

You're a new consultant in B2B Marketing Strategy. What mistakes are you making?
There is so much insight available by talking to your sales teams. So often, win loss data from bids and prespectives on what was said in the room are ignored or taken as a snapshot but not gathered systematically. So direct customer research is important, but there's a lot to be gained by talking to the people who are in market every day as well.

How can you use social proof to strengthen your value proposition?
In my experience, in B2B Marketing far too many companies opt to lead with functional benefits in their value propositions. It is not your feature list. In today's world, you first have to capture someone's attention. Give them an emotive reason to read more about you. (read: Thinking Fast and Slow, Daniel Kahnman). Do get under the skin of your audience, and don't ever think you only have one buyer. The average B2B buying centre is now 14 to 23 people (Gartner). So the more specific you can be to their needs the better.

You’re a new manager with a team to lead. How can you earn their trust?
Being humble is one of the greatest traits in a leader. If you simply aim to demonstrate by example you risk burn out and also stifling the potentially brilliant ideas of your team. So be open, and clear about their role and potential impact. It opens a whole new arena for creativity. Lastly, trust but verify until trust is earnt (on both sides)
