Thank you to over 50 GPs, CFO’s, COOs and other VC fund operators that opened their doors and their hearts on why operating a fund in today’s world looks like it was designed to work on Windows 95. I was awed by how manual and analogue fund operations look, and surprised at the status quo we have all come to accept from traditional fund admin players (for instance the 60 page portfolio company onboarding form!). But my hat really goes to those VC operators that make LPs feel (through sheer force and will) like they are riding in a Rolls Royce despite having to work with a Lada 🚗 engine under the operational hood (no disrespect to Ladas). Although I think it might be time to upgrade that VC stack 😅 Here are my thoughts straight from conversations with VC operators from board rooms to coffee shops across Europe.
