We believe that women and girls have the right to navigate our journey without compromising our authenticity.

About us

The Women’s Association is committed to ensuring that women and girls have the tools to freely explore what’s available to them in the working world and create who they want to be according to their skills and abilities. In the fight for gender equality, many women miss the ability to realise their full potential, due to men’s achievements being the benchmark for success.

Through events, corporate programmes, campaigning, and more, we are working to challenge the cultures, systems, narratives and mindsets that heavily perpetuate historically imposed ideas that have dictated what women can and can’t be and that further exacerbate the socio-economic divide.

Our work involves; 1. Showing the next generation of women all that they can be by making women's stories more visible from across the organisational structure, offering a more in-depth view of what women do at work.
 2. Strengthening female to female relationships at every level through events, projects, and roundtable discussions.
 3. Ensuring that organisations create an environment that can lead to the employment, development and overall fulfillment of women today and the next generation.

The skills and insights gained during the challenge not only positioned me for a job promotion but also opened doors to invaluable connections that have extended far beyond the week-long festival. Founder & CEO at The Women’s Association

How many women have been in this position? Where people assume that you are in a support or stereotypically female role rather than a “leadership” or stereotypically male role? When you watch the video, it’s very clear that Laura Haynor offered a clear and concise introduction, so the only reason he would have mistaken her role is because his bias was louder than her voice. This reminds of a meeting I had as I just started building The Women's Association, I met with a CEO and we got into a really transparent conversation about his bias and he was honest with me and shared that when it came time to hiring his CFO the final 2 candidates was a woman and a man, the woman had all of the credentials and in his words was a better candidate than the man but he couldn’t see past the fact that she had 4 children. He couldn’t see past it because he saw how intense it was for his wife, a stay at home mum with 3 children, so how could this woman possibly manage 4 children and a role as CFO. What I left that meeting understanding was that a woman's potential may be restricted by another person's (in most cases, a man) failure to believe in her abilities above their own biases. This can’t be fixed by one-off unconscious bias training, it requires an ongoing commitment to check your bias and challenge stereotypes so that the skills and capabilities of women and other groups speak louder than outdated perceptions. At The Women's Association, we have a short, anonymous survey that we are using to gather data. Data that can help us understand how we, alongside our partner organisations, can better support women.
