@KatiePiper_ was attacked with acid early in her modelling and TV career. She told The Female Lead how rebuilding her life felt impossible when the only people she saw with burns were from a world she couldn't relate to. Now, she says things are changing and becoming more inclusive 💖
About us
The Female Lead is a UK-based women's empowerment charity with 8.5 million followers, created by loyalty and data entrepreneur Edwina Dunn OBE. WHO ARE WE? Our mission at The Female Lead is to empower women. We help them overcome inequalities in society and business, by dispelling gender myths through our expertise in research and data and through content, sharing the stories of successful and inspirational women. We start in the classroom by promoting self-development and role models to girls in schools. We evolve our mission to the boardroom by working with businesses to prove women are an investment, not just a tick box. And throughout their lives and careers, we give women an online community that amplifies their voices and is an unbiased champion for conversations that matter to them at every age and every stage. We are a charity that uses all income to fund our work. Team GB athlete Katarina Johnson-Thompson has revealed she went through a phase early in her career where she felt “scared to be too muscly”. The heptathlete told @BritishVogue: “I got myself into a really negative headspace". She's now feeling at her best ahead of competing in the Paris Olympics, despite pulling out of some recent events due to injury and as a precaution. She said: “I do feel that everyone is rooting for me, because they’ve seen the traumatic things, but I want to reclaim the image of myself.” 🌟

Ever feel like your reactions are way bigger than the situation calls for? @drjulie says old wounds can make us sensitive, and if we hide or numb the pain that's causing this, people around us might not get why we’re reacting so strongly. Healing is key. Does this resonate with you? Comment to let us know.
