Good Food For Good Causes

About us

We fight food waste and food poverty by redistributing surplus good food to charities who need it. The Felix Project collects surplus fresh food from food retailers and wholesalers. We sort this in our depots and deliver it free of charge to charities and schools that provide hot meals and food parcels to people in need. This is a simple model that addresses the crucial issues of food waste and food poverty. We pass on the fresh, healthy food to charities who need it, supplying food for community kitchens, homeless hostels, food banks, refuges and charities cooking for people overcoming illness, incapacity or addiction. Our operation is simple, reliable and efficient. We have a small team of staff and more than 450 volunteers who drive our fleet of electric vans, walk or cycle to collect food from suppliers and deliver to around 1,000 charities and schools. Every hour volunteered enables 100 meals worth of food to be delivered and every £5 donated enables us to rescue £14.5 worth of food.

Congratulations to our partner, Ocado Retail, who just hit the 4,000,000 meal donation milestone 🙌! Your generosity is making a huge impact in feeding our community and by keeping all this healthy and nutritious food out of landfill, we are contributing to a healthier planet. Thank you Ocado for helping us get necessary and vital food into the hands of Londoners in need. It is with support from great partners like you, that we tackle hunger in our city. We are ecstatic to announce that our Felix's Kitchen team is shortlisted for Frontline Team of The Year at the Third Sector Awards. We are humbled and honoured to be recognised and to be in such esteemed company with so many charities doing incredible work. Our amazing team of chefs, porters, meal packers, and most importantly, our volunteers, recently sent out their' 3 millionth meal and produce almost 5,000 healthy and nutritious meals every day that make their way into the hands of people struggling to put food on the table. The Felix Project believes in a vision of London where no-one goes hungry and good food is never wasted and our Felix Kitchen plays a vital role in this 💚.

We want to give a big thank you to our friends at Citi, who volunteered with us through the months of May and June and through their efforts in our warehouse and Felix kitchen, were able to provide over 150,000 meals to Londoners in need. But that wasn't enough for them! They also ran a food drive, collecting 580kgs of non-perishable and kitchen staples that will be delivered out to local schools and community organisations, where it will reach the hands of people experiencing food insecurity. That's the equivalent of 1,381 meals! It is truly amazing what the impact of volunteering can have on a community. A huge thank you to all the #CitiVolunteers that donated their time to help us keep perfectly good food out of landfill and get it into the hands of those who need it.

He are honoured to be recognised by The Grocer and our food industry peers with the Waste Not Want Not Award. So much work and empathy went into understanding why this delicious fruit needed to be rescued and how we were going to ensure we made the absolute most of it. We could not have done this without the support and understanding of Peter at H Hall and Son Farm, thank you for becoming a part of the #FelixFamily. Thank you to everyone at Amazon, Matt Birch, Mohammed Patel, John Boumphrey, and Elise Kidd who made moving tonnes of apples, pears, and plums an absolutely breeze. And most importantly, thank you to all the volunteers that picked each and every piece of fruit 💚. You are legends. If you are food supplier, distributor, farmer, or somewhere in between and want to join #TeamFelix to win awards 😉, please send us a DM or message Richard Smith. Together we can make sure that no-one goes hungry and good food is never wasted.

WE WON! THANK YOU The Grocer and everyone who enjoyed the #TeamFelix dancing last night! There is a lot of amazing, fresh, organic fruit that goes to waste every year. Incredible produce that could be feeding people who really need nutritious food. Thanks to the likes of Richard Smith Shane Dorsett ilaria mezzogori and team - and all the incredible colleagues, volunteers and partners at The Felix Project - a lot more of it is going to families across London struggling to put food on the table. But without amazing partners like Amazon John Boumphrey Elise Kidd Mohammed Patel Matt Birch none of that fruit would get to where it's needed. Logistics isn't always glamourous, but last night there were sequins..... Thank you for being part of #TeamFelix guys. 💚 Peter Hall and the incredible farm - we can't wait to be back this year, thank you for letting The Felix Project be part of your farming world. Some of us are born to cry, and some of us have crying forced upon us. (Richard Smith I think we both know which side of this we sit). I love my job. None of us do this stuff for awards, but it's such a joy to see people who deserve it recognised. It genuinely is a dream team to be part of. Lots done, lots more to do to move towards a London where no good food is wasted and no Londoner goes hungry. Not part of #TeamFelix yet? Come and find out how you can help.....

Everyone cross your fingers 🤞 and toes for us! Tonight is the 2024 The Grocer Gold Awards and we, along with our partner, HE Hall & Son, are nominated for the 'Waste Not Want Not Award' for the 100 tonnes of apples, pears, and plums we rescued and redistributed. We even made our very own apple juice to extend the life of the fruit to ensure nothing went to waste. It was a huge undertaking that our volunteers rallied around so this nomination is also for everyone that turned up and helped us save all that incredible fruit and get it into the hands of Londoners in need! We would not be a finalist for this award with out your dedication and support. Thank you 💚.

We are so astounded by the incredible people and organisations that have partnered with the Felix Project. We could not rescue the tonnes of food and support the +1,000 organisations in London without volunteers and our food supply partners. And it's even more amazing when the two come together, like when Wasabi Sushi & Bento, who supply us with surplus food volunteered in our Park Royal Depot! We think it's so important to show our food supply partners where their food is going and the impact it is having on our community. Without their generous donations, we wouldn't be able to help Londoners in need. Thank you to all of our food suppliers and volunteers. You make this happen 💚.

10 million meals! That is how much surplus food HelloFresh has donated to The Felix Project since becoming a partner in 2017. Can you believe that? As Hello Fresh's official charity partner, we've been helping them reduce their food waste by taking their surplus food and distributing it across every borough in London to people who need it. We can't tackle hunger in our communities alone, and to be able to build a partnership on shared beliefs that no one should go hungry and no good food should go to waste is invaluable in this fight. Thank you HelloFresh 💚 and here's to 10 million more!
