Driving commerce and prosperity by upskilling young people for employment. “To mark World Youth Skills Day, we’re celebrating Futuremakers, our global initiative driving commerce and prosperity by upskilling disadvantaged young people. With the gap between education and employability becoming wider and wider, we have an essential role to play in bridging that gap. Focusing on employability and entrepreneurship, we offer skills, training and networks primarily to disadvantaged young women and microentrepreneurs, giving them the support they need to thrive and make a difference in their community.” Hear more from our Chief Strategy and Talent Officer, Tanuj Kapilashrami. Climate change is happening now. How can we help communities adapt and build resilience? The latest film in our series on innovation in sustainability explores the opportunities in adaptation finance. We’re working with partners to help define adaptation finance so that we can crowd in private sector capital, providing solutions that help vulnerable communities deal with the negative effects of climate change. “So much of the environmental capital that has been mobilised to date has been focused on mitigation. If we don’t mobilise capital towards adaptive business models, the price of inaction grows at an exponential rate,” says Marisa Drew, our Chief Sustainability Officer. Scaling the development of adaptation finance is the focus of one of the four Innovation Hubs we’ve established to help advance emerging areas of sustainability.
