Seems a little funny talking about the pantomime in July but I hope you can forgive us given the state of the Great British weather… 🌦️ We’re pleased to announce that our 38th annual PwC Pantomime is ‘The Little Mermaid’.🧜♀️ The PwC Pantomime is a key part of our ‘PwC in the Community’ programme in the UK, embodying our value of making a difference. Each year, we provide 8000 children from inner city schools the experience of seeing a theatrical production in a professional theatre, as well partnering with children’s charities to raise awareness and fundraise for their cause. We offer free transport, support from generous sponsors, and special signed and audio-described performances. Plus, we’ll be touring with The Little Mermaid in collaboration with our regional offices – stay tuned for more details!

The need to develop a new Industrial Strategy for the UK is critical. And we're not the only one saying it. In recent months, we've surveyed more than 1200 of the UK's senior business decision-makers and interviewed over 60 business leaders from our regions and sectors, about what they believe is needed to create sustainable growth. From this came our Framework for Growth, which we launched last night with a number of people from Birmingham's business and local government community. We were joined by fantastic panelists to discuss the importance of place based strategies and the need to invest in skills to achieve economic growth. Thanks to Richard Parker, Ruth Daniels British Triathlon Federation, Carl Sizer, Gavin Barwell, Holly Chate FutureDotNow, Paul Kett, Suzie Branch-Haddow, Andrew Connors Lloyds Banking Group and David Morris. Key findings from our report showed that: 📌 Skills, education and talent is the area where most businesses - almost seven in ten (68%) - believe is the most critical lever for growth followed by infrastructure and planning (66%) and cyber security (60%) and digital transformation (59%). 📌Over 80% of UK businesses have said that an all encompassing industrial strategy is essential for growth 📌Just over 70% of UK firms believe that any changes in the future should be focused on improving the general business environment rather than the specific needs of individual sectors 📌The policy direction of Government is regarded by business leaders as having a fundamental impact, with 65% agreeing that it directly influences and affects growth prospects Follow the link in comments in read the full report. #IndustrialStrategy

A diverse workforce is only the first step towards building an inclusive workplace. Employers need to ensure that they’re creating a culture where employees feel space to have these discussions. 🎧 To hear more from Michelle Jackson, Head of Diversity & Inclusion at The Shaw Trust, watch the full episode back here: https://bit.ly/4el7k3E #SocialMobility #DisabilityInclusion #DisablingBias

📈Following the release of today's ONS GDP data, our Chief Economist Barret Kupelian says: “The first significant data release under a Labour government was positive, with the month on month growth rate of UK GDP up by 0.4%, significantly above consensus. The upswing in activity was attributed to better weather in May and was broad based across services, production and construction. “On an annual basis, UK GDP is now growing by 1.4% year-on-year, the fastest since the bounceback from the pandemic. “If this trend continues, the conversation could start to shift on how to increase labour supply to fuel future economic growth, which inevitably will involve reducing the post-pandemic high rates of economic inactivity. However, it is still early to conclude whether the current growth spurt is part of a sustained pickup in economic activity.” ❓Where next for the economy? Read our Framework for Growth, a major research piece involving over 1200 of the UK business leaders on their attitudes and priorities for achieving growth within their sectors. https://lnkd.in/g7jRXPX8. #Economy #ONS #IndustrialStrategy
