About us
Peek Vision is a social enterprise which develops smartphone technology and public health tools to help eye health organisations improve their services. We work in low- and middle-income countries with health providers, NGOs and governments. Our vision is to bring better vision and health to everybody. Over a billion people worldwide have preventable or curable vision impairment and rates are rising. For most cases, there are simple, cost effective treatments like cataract operations or glasses, yet they are out of reach. Peek and its partners are breaking down the barriers to receiving eye health care for the people who need it most.

Congratulations to our next two partner organisations to be officially Certified by Peek Vision! 👏 Vision Action in Ghana, and AIC Health Ministries in Meru County, Kenya, have both successfully completed their Certification to independently train Peek software users. In Ghana, Vision Action is currently using Peek in four districts to deliver community and school eye health programmes. “Obtaining Peek Certification has been a journey of embracing challenges and discovering potential," says Reina Der, Vision Action’s Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning and Accountability Lead. "My confidence in Peek training and programme delivery has improved and I am better prepared than ever to provide relevant and suitable assistance for our programmes, as well as to inspire and empower others, especially our partners and trainees.” In Kenya, AIC Health Ministries is using Peek in Meru County as part of the multi-county Vision Impact Project, led by CBM Christian Blind Mission and the Ministry of Health, Kenya. Amos Mutunga (CPSP-K), Project Officer at AIC Health Ministries says: “I am honoured to receive the Software User Training Certification from Peek Vision. As a Project Officer implementing the Vision Impact Program aiming to prevent avoidable blindness through the use of Peek technology, this recognition fuels my enthusiasm for our goal to reduce the prevalence of eye infections and to improve eye health in general. I eagerly anticipate our continued collaboration to ensure that people can access eye services through the use of the technology.” Peek Certification is designed to enable partners to scale up programme activities more quickly and efficiently. Congratulations to the team at AGC Tenwek Hospital in Bomet county, Kenya, which has become the first organisation to be officially certified by Peek Vision! 👏 Our new Certification model equips our partner eye health organisations with the skills to help them independently train Peek users and analyse programme data. “Peek provided rigorous training to help our team members become competent in software user training and gain their Certification. We’re proud to be a Peek certified organisation and it means we can now manage our Peek user training independently, giving us greater flexibility to expand and improve our services,” says Faith Lang’at, Programme Manager at AGC Tenwek Hospital. Tenwek has been using Peek technology since 2022 as part of the Vision Impact Project, a multi-county programme led by CBM Christian Blind Mission and the Ministry of Health, Kenya. We're offering Certification to all those organisations working with us to implement eye health programmes, ultimately helping to increase access to quality eye care. “The WHO SPECS 2030 initiative could be a game-changer for eye health,” says Peek CEO Andrew Bastawrous. We joined leading eye health organisations in Geneva last week to launch #specs2030, a major new World Health Organization initiative to tackle refractive error, the world’s biggest cause of vision impairment. Peek is one of the founding members of the Global SPECS Network, along with thirty other organisations from across the eye health sector and beyond. Speakers at the initiative’s launch event discussed the challenges they face delivering effective eye health services, with many mentioning the difficulties of planning, implementing and monitoring outcomes – all problems which Peek is designed to solve. Today we're attending the launch of the World Health Organization's #SPECS2030 initiative. Uncorrected refractive error is the leading cause of vision impairment in children and adults. Despite spectacles being a highly cost-effective solution, a huge unmet need remains. SPECS 2030 addresses key challenges to support global efforts to increase effective refractive error coverage by 40% by 2030.
