End-to-end encryption is under attack by the EU’s latest legislation proposal 🔓 In an effort to curb the spread of sensitive and illegal material, the EU is looking to bring in legislation which would require material that is shared via end-to-end encryption to be scanned before being sent. WhatsApp and Signal are concerned that this legislation would directly attack their services and claim if it was brought in, it could lead to a move towards a “techno-authoritarian” approach from the EU 🤖 With users and developers voicing their concerns about the legislation, it’s likely that it’ll be shot down before passing into law, but it’s still a huge concern for many across tech.
