We were very pleased to attend the Institute for Government panel event on ‘How can new ministers be supported to succeed in government?' last week. It was great to hear more specifically about what the new Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, and her new Minister for Housing, can do to provide more stability to the department after a high turnover of housing ministers during the previous government, with a key takeaway being positive engagement and collaboration with the housing sector. And on that note, we are proud to continue advocating for the National Housing Federation #PlanForHousing and the open letter that they published on Friday, highlighting how the MHCLG can work with the sector to tackle the housing crisis - you can read that letter here: https://lnkd.in/esh-4K6r #housing #UKhousing #housingcrisis #solvingthehousingcrisis #government #housingminister #FlagshipGroup

We've signed the Armed Forces Covenant, reaffirming our commitment to the armed forces community and pledging to treat current and former members of the armed forces, and their families, fairly. Lisa Collen, our director of people and culture, signed the covenant at the Royal Norfolk Show, along with Group Captain Fred Wigglesworth, Station Commander at RAF Marham. Lisa said: “We are honoured to support our servicepeople and their families through the Armed Forces Covenant, especially in relation to jobs and careers beyond their service to the country. This covenant is more than a commitment. It’s a promise to the armed forces community that we will strive to ensure they are treated with the dignity and respect they have earned through their service.” Group Captain Wigglesworth said: "It is truly reassuring to note that Flagship Group recognise and value the skills and qualities that members of the service family possess and acknowledge the significant contribution they provide to our country, our businesses, and our local communities." You can read about our full commitment and the actions we'll take to honour those commitments on our website: https://lnkd.in/eGhY7GrG #armedforcescovenant #veteransupport #community #solvingthehousingcrisis #housing #ukhousing #FlagshipGroup

In a year which, in Tpas' words, has “brought the most significant change to the regulation of social housing” that we’ve seen in the last ten years, we were pleased to be able to attend the Tpas England National Tenants Conference in Coventry this week. Flagship’s director of digital and customer experience and Tpas board member Claire Wright, as well as two members of our #tenant influencer network, went along for some very insightful talks and panels. These covered the important topics of increasing tenant involvement in decision making, gaining perspectives on new regulatory frameworks, ensuring the Tenant Satisfaction Measures are transparent for tenants, and much more. Also attending and chairing an exclusive conference Q&A was Housing Ombudsman Richard Blakeway, whose perspective on regulations was truly fascinating and very useful. Reflecting on the conference, Claire said: “Ensuring we involve tenants, and their thoughts & perspectives, into the way we work is essential. This conference was such a great opportunity to have housing professionals and tenants in the same rooms to hear, candidly and directly, how we can be better.” #tpas #tenantvoice #customerexperience #conference #tenantsatisfactionmeasures #TSMs #housing #UKhousing #solvingthehousingcrisis #FlagshipGroup

The market town of Diss is set to get a huge boost, with work officially under way on Flagship Homes' new development, with 35 homes to expand the local community. Built by contractor Marfleet and Blyth Limited using grant funding from Homes England, the site will be a mix of 21 affordable rent and 14 shared ownership homes. All the plots will be built using Modern Methods of Construction (MMC), involving timber frames built in sections off-site to then be transported and assembled on-site, which reduces build time and allows for greater quality control throughout the build process. The importance of managing biodiversity in our work to mitigate the effects of climate change continues to grow and is made more pertinent this year with the introduction of new Biodiversity Net Gain legislation. At the 2024 #UnlockNetZeroAwards we recognised excellent work in this area with the spotlight placed on work in development projects and then the work involved in housing association and community projects. Barratt Developments plc were recognised as the winners for new development work for their Kingsbrook development in Aylesbury. Our judges said: “This entry was a standout for the immense array of biodiversity incorporated into the scheme but particularly for setting a new standard for large scale development – this is a game changer for house building.” Also shortlisted for this award were ECF, Green Roof Shelters Ltd Meadfleet Ltd, Millibank Group, Pension Insurance Corporation plc, PRP and Wienerberger UK In the category for work undertaken by housing associations and community projects Flagship_Group were named winners for their tree transplantation work. Our judges commented: “This offered a great example of collaborative working that is solutions focused, going above and beyond initial goals to achieve great results.” Southern Housing were highly commended for their efforts and also making the shortlist in this category were Abri Group, Civic Engineers, The Green Spaces Advisory Board, Radius Housing, Spacehive, Walsall Metropolitan Borough Council and Watford Community Housing #action #urgency #learnfromdoing #solutionsatscale #biodiversity #nature #newdevelopments #community #togetherwecan #unlocknetzero

🏡 Subtler transformations can still make the biggest impacts! 🌟 By replacing the more tired bark with elegant plum slate, our Neighbourhood team have brightened up and refreshed the appearance of the area at Bridge Street in Fakenham. That, plus the installation of some new signage, means that Bridge Street is looking fresher and more welcoming than ever. Huge thanks to the dedication of our team to keep our communities looking fresh 👏 #neighbourhood #community #CommunityPride #FlagshipGroup #FlagshipServices #borders

After a win in the #GeneralElection, it’s been confirmed that The Labour Party will form the UK’s next government. The Labour manifesto has laid out commitments to addressing the #housingcrisis, with a big promise to deliver 1.5 million new homes, prioritising the largest increase in social and affordable housing in a generation. They have also promised to abolish Section 21 evictions and extend Awaab’s Law to the private sector in order to improve housing safety and announced plans to create a cross-government strategy to tackle homelessness, potentially including an "ending homelessness unit" in the Office for the Deputy Prime Minister. We welcome all of these and reaffirm that we firmly believe housing should be the next government’s top priority – our deputy CEO Helen Walsham recently contributed a piece to Inside Housing on this, which you can read here: https://lnkd.in/em2ByxHF We look forward to working with the new government and all MPs in our areas, both new and returning, on ensuring that #solvingthehousingcrisis is a reality. #housing #UKhousing #affordablehousing #FlagshipGroup #PlanForHousing

It’s polling day in the #GeneralElection! We can’t say this enough: the UK is experiencing a housing crisis, and we need the next government to commit to a #planforhousing. We’ve seen the manifestoes from the major parties, and housing’s place among the proposed policies is welcome. We just need the next government to deliver. Here’s a very broad overview of what the main parties have said about their plans for housing: - Conservatives: a target of 1.6 million new homes, focusing on different tenures and with emphasis on home ownership schemes like Help to Buy - Labour: Labour promises 1.5 million new homes, prioritising social rented homes and ensuring new developments provide more affordable housing - Liberal Democrats: a proposed 380,000 new homes annually, 150,000 of which to be social homes - Greens: a target of 150,000 new social homes per year, with significant investments into environmental sustainability through retrofit and insulating existing homes - Reform UK: reviewing the planning system to encourage development and a reform to social housing law to prioritise local people Also welcome are the commitments by the major parties to abolish Section 21 no fault evictions, and to tackle rough sleeping and homelessness. This is a very brief look at what the main parties have promised; but again, whatever happens, whichever party makes up the government needs to follow through on these commitments. #planforhousing #solvingthehousingcrisis #vote #housing #UKhousing #FlagshipGroup

🏘️🧹 Locals in the Cadge Road and Earlham Grove neighbourhood of Norwich came out on Monday 24 June to take part in a community clean-up effort, held at St. Elizabeth’s Church. 🌿♻️ Flagship's Neighbourhood Services team secured two skips allowing locals to dispose of items such as old furniture, appliances, and other large household waste. This service was offered free of charge to get as many people involved as possible and to support a cleaner, greener community. The event was organised by Business in the Community (BITC) and Flagship, with assistance from Age UK Norwich who also had volunteers litter-picking in the nearby streets.
