We’re celebrating National Retail Workers Day today, in partnership with Usdaw (our recognised trade union in Northern Ireland and Asda Express), as we thank our colleagues who are a crucial part of our business and their local communities. Our retail colleagues regularly go above and beyond for customers - whether it’s through volunteering their time for local good causes, or going the extra mile to deliver a great instore experience. Thank you to all retail workers for the hard work they do, day in day out.  #RetailWorkersDay2024 #ProudToBeAsda

The Groceries Code Adjudicator has today released the results of its annual survey, tracking the compliance of the UK’s 14 largest grocery retailers with the Groceries Supply Code of Practice (GSCOP). This survey allows our supply partners to provide anonymous and candid feedback on Asda's performance over the past year. We're pleased to report another year of progress on key metrics: - Overall Code Compliance - 95% of direct suppliers rated Asda positively, a +1% YoY increase and our highest score ever on this metric. - Fair Trading Relationships - 78% of direct suppliers reported that Asda conducts trading relationships fairly, in good faith, and without duress, a +7% YoY increase and our highest score ever on this metric. - GSCOP Related Issues – Just 2% of suppliers raised a GSCOP-related issue. Over 700 Asda suppliers participated in this year’s survey, and we would like to thank them for their open and honest feedback. #GSCOP #SupplierRelations #RetailCompliance #Asda #SupplyChain #GCA

💚 As a committed Menopause Friendly employer, we always look for opportunities to recognise and celebrate all the brilliant work that is being done by our colleagues across the business to de-stigmatise menopause and make our workplace fully inclusive. We are proud to have been selected as a finalist for the Menopause Friendly Working Environment and Peer-to-Peer Support categories at the annual Menopause Friendly Awards, a fantastic achievement that has been made possible by the hard work of so many dedicated colleagues across the business. Our work doesn’t stop here, and we look forward to growing our activity that supports all those experiencing or impacted by menopause. 💚

Today, we have published our fourth Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) report, providing an annual update on the progress we have made towards meeting our environmental targets in the last calendar year. A few key highlights: 🏭 ⬇ Continued reduction in carbon emissions (scope 1-3), down 7% on 2022 and 15% since Asda first began reporting its full carbon footprint in 2020. ♻ ⬆ Increased the proportion of own-brand packaging that can be recycled by 3% year-on-year to 96%, on the way towards the target of 100% recyclability by 2025. ❤️ Relaunched the Live Better icon across our portfolio of 876 products, helping customers eat more healthily. 🍽️Continued support for communities impacted by the cost-of living crisis via initiatives such as ‘Kids Eat for £1’ in cafes, with over 3m meals served since launch. 🤝Raised over £7m for Tickled Pink breast cancer campaign – the largest amount in a single year - and £3.1m for BBC Children In Need. Happy Thank You Day! We’re proud to be partners of this event, so we’re taking a moment to say a huge thank you to our colleagues who go out of their way to serve customers and support their local communities. To celebrate how our colleagues continue to go above and beyond, here are a few to help customers or get involved with their local communities: - Our brilliant colleague Jack Lawrence, who combines working at our Raunds supermarket with a role as an on-call retained firefighter: https://lnkd.in/esc4GMQU - Our Community Champions, who last year organised litter picks for 750 colleagues and 1,500 customers as part of The Big Help Out - Our delivery drivers and store colleagues who are helping to combat loneliness and social isolation by taking part in our our ‘Happy to Chat’ initiative this summer: https://lnkd.in/ekFf9DeU #HappyThankYouDay

Earlier this week we were proud to launch the third cohort of our Intentional Allyship programme! This event saw colleagues from across the business based all around the UK come together in Leeds to get involved in the live learning summit. The day was hosted by our Learning and Leadership teams in collaboration with coaching and development experts from Unleash My Future. The event was kicked off by our Chief People & Corporate Affairs Officer Hayley Tatum, who spoke to the commitment Asda has for developing diverse talent into leadership positions and the importance of doing so for the realisation of our wider corporate mission. This programme is specifically targeted for women and people from ethnic minority backgrounds and aims to equip colleagues with the tools and skills to take the next steps in furthering their career. There were over 240 colleagues in attendance yesterday, and there are a group of over 50 Senior Directors actively involved in the programme who will be mentoring these colleagues over the next six months. We can't wait to see where this journey takes our participants and look forward to seeing them flourish! 💚 #Asda #IntentionalAllyship2024 #AsdaAllies

Recently, we launched our Colleague Advisory Panel – a group where colleague representatives from across Asda can share additional feedback and insight, strategic updates, and ultimately shape Asda as a business. Representatives across our Colleague Voice, trade union, inclusion networks and members of Asda’s executive management will come together several times a year to share feedback, discuss strategic-level topics, and ultimately ensure our decisions are more informed. We already have a range of different groups within Asda that we meet with regularly to help feedback on what matters most to colleagues. The Colleague Advisory Panel will complement those forums, allowing for additional insight, feedback and strategic updates to be shared across the business, as we continue to build a better Asda for the future ✅
