DPD is delighted to have won the Diversity Award at a glittering ceremony at last night’s Business Continuity Awards. The award celebrated how DPD is putting inclusion first. In particular was our Inspire programme, where we have invested in providing supported internships to young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). DPD Inspire provides crucial support to those who need it the most and helps get these young people the experience they need to find stable work. Our win also recognised our ‘More Time Needed’ option, where parcel recipients with mobility issues can instruct their driver to allocate extra time to allow them to get to the door. Initiatives such as this are all part of our mission to be mindful of everyone’s needs. DPD is committed to having the most inclusive workplace in the country, and we’re overjoyed to have received the Diversity Award in pursuit of this.  

We're thrilled to have been shortlisted for all five of the categories we entered at this year's National Sustainability Awards. DPD is on a mission to be net zero by 2040, which has seen us transform our delivery fleet to be more sustainable. To be shortlisted for all five of our entries is a tremendous acknowledgement that our efforts are being recognised and making a real difference. The categories are: Green Fleet Award Supply Chain Initiative of the Year Carbon Reduction Award Company of the Year Cleantech Award We're looking forward to attending the ceremony this October!

DPD paid a special visit to Bournville School last week to teach the kids all about road safety. Evie the robot also took time out of her busy schedule delivering around Milton Keynes to join us as the guest of honour. The kids watched a video where Evie taught them a variety of safety tips when near traffic, particularly where the blind spots are on an HGV. Evie then made her surprise appearance as she rolled into the classroom, delighting the children. The kids were then given an activity book which included a challenge to draw the blind spots on a diagram of an HGV. After this they went outside where our road safety truck was waiting. Cones were positioned around the yard, each one representing a blind spot for the driver – kids took turns getting inside the cab to see if they could spot the cones from the driver's seat. It was an incredible and educational experience which excited the children (and we understand Evie loved it, too), so keep an eye out as we visit other schools in the future.
