✨ DataIQ has chosen Kate Sargent, Chief Data Officer, Financial Times, to be in the 2024 edition of the #DataIQ100 UK, the only fully-curated list of influential people in #data and #analytics ✨ "I knew that a career in analytics and, later, data was for me. I moved around through several well-known consumer brands including easyJet, Tesco, Ocado, Sky and TUI, each time expanding the breadth of my role and learning about different cultures and how to work with, and influence, different types of people. With each move, my team size grew and, with it, an emerging passion for people management and leadership. I took up a new position of Chief Data Officer at the Financial Times. I have now been in this role since April 2023 and I am thoroughly enjoying bringing all my experience to bear in a new sector and in an organisation with a unique culture." 🔎 Explore Kate's impressive journey to success here: https://lnkd.in/eaH9unN5

💡 AI is transforming businesses, but are we truly ready for the ethical and practical implications? A recent article by our very own Chief Knowledge Officer and Evangelist, David Reed, dives into the critical questions we must address as #AI becomes more integrated into our operations. Key takeaways include: ✅ The need for transparency and accountability in AI. ✅ Balancing innovation with ethical considerations. ✅ Ensuring diverse perspectives in AI development to avoid biases. During David's panel session at The London AI Summit, the question of how to apply guardrails without stifling #innovation was very much to the fore. Where innovation and governance processes were already established, scaling up has been quicker and less risky. Lloyds Banking Group swiftly recognised #ChatGPT's potential and adopted a Control Tower approach to evaluate, prioritise, govern, and control all new AI projects which resulted in them emerging as a leader in AI adoption within the sector. 📑 Read more about the impacts of AI here: https://lnkd.in/d9tqs7GT

📢 Breaking News: Smart data is at the heart of Labour's £330bn fintech vision! In a move poised to reshape the UK's economic landscape, the new #Labour government has unveiled a groundbreaking £330 billion #fintech initiative, placing smart #data at its core. Read on for updates on their changes: ➡ Data portability The proposed data portability initiative focuses on #security, #privacy, and #ethics, potentially reshaping our collective perception of data. By allowing seamless data transfer between companies, akin to a "data passport," it aims to leave behind the inaccessible data trails. This new culture promotes collaboration and #innovation among businesses. ➡ Artificial Intelligence Labour have pledged to “support the development of the AI sector” through their industrial strategy. They have expressed a focus on #AI leadership through proposal of the appointment of Chief AI Officers across government departments and the creation of an AI fund to foster innovation between the public and private sector. ➡ Resilience, regulation and innovation Labour’s manifesto introduces a Regulatory Innovation Office to modernise and streamline regulations, expediting approval processes and tackling cross-sector challenges. This initiative aims to alleviate prolonged approval times for decision-makers in heavily regulated industries, creating a more agile environment for #technological innovation. 🔎 Explore how these ambitious strategies could redefine Britain's fintech prowess and impact businesses and consumers alike: https://lnkd.in/gt-rDS7a

🔊 Avinash Tripathi, Vice President of Analytics at the University of Phoenix, spoke at the #DataIQ100 Summit and stated that it has been repeatedly shown that teams which utilise #data learnings perform better than those that do not, so it is in the best interests of the data leader to demonstrate why data-led decisions are so essential. This is accomplished through data storytelling, which hinges on three essential elements: 💡 Know your audience Data leaders must understand their audience, as it will vary, to tailor storytelling for maximum impact. Ignoring the audience's needs results in non-targeted stories that fail to inspire action. It is important to consider what the audience knows, needs to know, and how the data pertains to them. 💡 Data story narratives  A good story needs to lay out the information in a suitable order with a final call to action so that the audience is compelled to take action to further the data-driven success of the business. Failing to provide a clear conclusion that contains actionable insight risks a story where the audience is unsure of the significance.   💡 Visualisation of the data story  Data visualisation is particularly important for those who have not been trained to read data. By using visual tools and examples, complex data can become accessible to a wider audience. These insights are from keynote presentations and discussions at the 2024 #DataIQ100 Summit. 💡 AI Revolution – Essential insights from the DataIQ 100 Summit At the 2024 #DataIQ100 Summit, data leaders shared their experiences driving an #AI revolution and how they devised strategies and approaches to integrate AI tools into their organisations. Diana Hoskins Schildhouse, Chief Analytics and Insights Officer, Colgate-Palmolive, at the DataIQ 100 Summit, discussed her four-part strategy for leading the AI revolution: 🔹 A business-first approach Taking a business-first approach offers numerous advantages for data leaders and organisations. These include prioritising customers, gaining first-mover advantages by executing strategies ahead of competitors, and focusing investments and commercial decisions for financial benefits. 🔹 Communicating a vision through a concise strategy Clear communication of a vision is essential. A #data vision needs to be set in motion and this can be done in different ways depending on the size, legacy and ambitions of the organisation, so careful consideration is needed from the data team. 🔹 The promotion of data literacy Schildhouse emphasised at the DataIQ 100 Summit that promoting data literacy is vital. It's an ongoing effort for businesses, requiring inclusive approaches such as avoiding jargon and simplifying information. This enhances engagement, adoption, and fosters the growth of data literacy and culture across the organisation. 🔹 Creating value Creating value involves articulating the impact of your work internally and focusing on priority areas to achieve goals. It's crucial for data leaders to emphasise that value creation doesn't happen automatically with data; they must start with questions as to how value needs to be created in the business and then leverage data effectively. 🔎 Learn more about Diana's four part strategy here: https://lnkd.in/ewvKGGc6
