Four weeks ago, we showed how our biochar was applied into the barn and mixed with straw and the cows' excrement. The charged mixture was allowed to ferment and now it was time to bring this nutrient-rich power mix to the fields. 🌱 We also show you a field strip where compost without biochar was applied, for comparison. Of course, we can't see any difference yet, but corn is being grown on both strips these days. 🌽 As soon as the differences in growth become visible, we will visit the farmer again and show you the development. 👉 Write in the comments what you are particularly interested in. Carbon Dioxide Removal (#CDR): An Essential Puzzle Piece of Climate Change Mitigation? 🌍☁️ Despite over 96% of global greenhouse gas emissions coming from countries that have pledged climate action, our current trajectory is still significantly falling behind the efforts needed for the 1.5°C target established by the Paris Agreement. The latest @BCG and @DVNE study highlights that ramping up global CDR volume to at least 4.5-9 gigatons annually by 2050 will be inevitable to limit global warming to below 2°C or 1.5°C, respectively. 🥵🌡️ CDR is crucial for reversing and stabilizing atmospheric CO2 levels, significantly mitigating the impacts of global warming, and supporting ambitious net-zero goals. It addresses residual emissions from hard-to-abate sectors like steel, cement, and chemicals, and can also „clean up“ historical emissions to prevent their continued effect on global warming. Understanding and integrating CDR into our climate strategies is vital for a sustainable future. German financial newspaper Handelsblatt finds that CO2 removal could become a billion-dollar market: "Klimawandel: Entnahme von CO2 könnte zum Milliarden-Markt werden" #CDR (Carbon Dioxide Removal, kurz CDR) wird ein entscheidendes Mittel in unserem Kampf gegen den Klimawandel sein. Die neue Boston Consulting Group (BCG)-Studie mit Deutscher Verband für negative Emissionen e.V. (DVNE)) "Negative Emissionen: Europa und Deutschland als Katalysatoren einer Billionen-Euro-Industrie" untersucht die transformativen Auswirkungen, die CDR auf das Erreichen der Klimaziele bei gleichzeitiger Förderung des Wirtschaftswachstums haben könnte. 1️⃣ Schlüsselrolle für Klimaziele: Über die unumgänglichen Reduktionsmaßnahmen hinaus ist CDR ein wesentlicher Bestandteil unseres Bestrebens, die Ziele des Pariser Abkommens in Reichweite zu halten, indem wir die Restemissionen aus schwer abbaubaren Sektoren wie Zement, Stahl oder Chemikalien neutralisieren. Zudem können weitere „historische Emissionen“ entnommen werden. 2️⃣ Wirtschaftlicher Aufschwung: Das wirtschaftliche Potenzial von CDR weltweit könnte bis 2050 jährlich 470-940 Mrd. € erreichen - das entspricht der heutigen globalen Luftfahrtindustrie. In Europa (Deutschland) könnte die CDR-Industrie bis dahin ein jährliches Volumen von 220 Mrd. € (70 Mrd. €) erreichen, was insbesondere auf technologische Fortschritte und Skaleneffekte zurückzuführen ist. 3️⃣ Arbeitsplatzpotenzial: Die europäische (deutsche) CDR-Industrie könnte bis zu 670.000 (190.000) Arbeitsplätze schaffen. 4️⃣ Europa ebnet den Weg: Mit seinem technischen Know-how und seiner Klimapolitik kann Europa, insbesondere Deutschland, diesen Markt maßgeblich beeinflussen. Es sind jedoch entschiedene Maßnahmen seitens der politischen Entscheidungsträger, der CDR-Industrie, der Käufer von CDR-Zertifikaten und der Investoren erforderlich, um das volle Potenzial von CDR zu entfalten.

More than 500 tons of biochar have just left our warehouse and have landed at our agricultural customer in Brandenburg, among others. There, the biochar is used as animal bedding in stables, ensuring longer dry lying areas and significantly less odor. 🐮🌽 Other customers use biochar as a building material 🔧🏗️ and for substrate production. Dort wird die Pflanzenkohle als Tiereinstreu im Stall genutzt und sorgt so für länger trockene Liegeflächen und deutlich weniger Geruch. 🐮🌽 Andere Abnehmer nutzen die Pflanzenkohle für die Verarbeitung in Baustoffen 🔧🏗️ und zur Substratherstellung. Es gibt unzählige Einsatzzwecke und die CO2-Bindung gibt es als Bonus dazu. ☁️
