About us
British Cycling is the national governing body for cycling as recognised by the UCI – the international federation for the sport. Based in Manchester at the National Cycling Centre, British Cycling works across all levels and six disciplines of the sport (BMX, Mountain Bike, Cyclo-Cross, Road, Track and Cycle Speedway), from providing the support and encouragement people need to get riding their bikes for the first time, to being home to the hugely successful Great Britain Cycling Team. Continued success at the highest level is inspiring a boom in participation across the nation. There have never been more opportunities to ride a bike, be it for fun or sport, and British Cycling is at the heart of this growth. British Cycling also works hard to represent cyclists’ interests at all levels, including campaigning on important issues including road safety. As a membership organisation, British Cycling provides a suite of benefits and support to its members who currently number 130,000. All membership revenue is invested back into cycling.

Last weekend British Cycling Board member, Nasser Al-Tell, celebrated Pride weekend in London with his club, CycleOut London. 🌈 🚴 Helping to bring the joy of cycling to the LGBT+ community in London for nearly 28 years, the club curates a year-round programme of rides, self-organised cycling trips abroad and social events in and around the city. Nasser said: “We have taken part in London Pride for the last seven years to encourage more of the community to participate in this great sport of ours. "We take pride in what we do and in providing a safe, healthy, accessible environment for the community to experience the joy of cycling.” Find out more about CycleOut and their work here: https://bit.ly/3ztJi6E

🎆 Let the tour commence! 🔥 Our British Cycling Volunteer Roadshow 2024 has kicked off in Newcastle. Together we gathered - ride leaders, event organisers, club coaches, commissaires, community leaders, club secretaries, accredited marshalls, and regional board members (some wearing many of these hats) @thecyclehub to explore and start to imagine what the future of volunteering can look like for British Cycling. What incredible passion, experience and service these volunteers have brought and continue to bring to our sport. This time is so needed to get to know one another better and learn more about what matters, how we can help and what we can do together. I can't wait to see how the brilliant ideas explored start to form a wider picture and narrative as the team visit the next 9 regions🚴♀️🚴♀️🚴♀️ Massive shout out to our National Volunteer Manager Phil Ball, National Volunteer Officer Joanne Lifford for your vision and getting the show on the road👏, Joel Callister, Melissa Teasdale , Jack Rees and Joanne R. for all your support. https://lnkd.in/eW3s2Cqt #volunteersareawesome #bringingthejoyofcyclingtoeveryone

I am deeply thankful and honored to have received the prestigious Malcolm X Young Persons Award for Excellence at The Muslim News 2024! This recognition humbles me, and it has significantly highlighted the importance of cycling within the Muslim community. Working with women and children from diverse backgrounds has been a privilege. From teaching them how to ride and improve their skills to supporting them in their first races, it has been an incredible journey. I look forward to many more milestones ahead. Congratulations to all the other nominees and winners for their outstanding contributions to our communities. A big thank you to The Muslim News for hosting this annual event and providing a platform to celebrate these accomplishments. Thank you to my parents, Sajida Chandoo and Samir Chandoo, for their unwavering support and encouragement in all my endeavors, no matter how ambitious they seemed! I am also immensely grateful to the entire Evolve team for taking a chance on a teenager who walked through your doors a few years ago. Your belief in me and your guidance have been instrumental in getting me to where I am today. Iffat Tejani Umbreen Azhar, Assoc. Huge thanks to colleagues in Lloyds Bank Corporate & Institutional and many of our clients, for supporting our charity partner Crisis as part of a recent bike ride. And thank you Kelly Holliday and the Crisis team – brilliant to have you with us. Cycling is a sport I enjoy in any spare time that I have, although none of us were at risk of feeling too 'on form' - given we were joined by triple Olympic gold medallist, Ed Clancy OBE. Thanks for going easy on us, Ed. And it was good to celebrate with you the new partnership between British Cycling and Lloyds Bank - as a result of which, I’m pleased there was an equal fund for the #TourofBritainWomen, for the first time. Thank you to all the organisers and participants - it was a great day, in a great cause. James Ranger Edward Fry Scott Barton
