It's a hat-trick! Another great achievement for our team of experts as we've reopened the M25 seven hours ahead of schedule following the completion of the latest stage of improvement works for the Junction 10 improvement scheme for National Highways. During the closure, the third of this year, we successfully installed 72 concrete beams which will form the second of the new Junction 10 gyratory bridges and lifted two new gantries into place – one being a 45 metre superspan gantry, spanning the entire width of the M25 carriageway. Exciting news from our Early Careers team at the Strategic Design Partnership! 🎉 Led by Amelia House and Molly Kirven, we hosted a carbon hackathon where early careers colleagues tackled carbon reduction in our industry. This collaborative event, organised by our Early Career Network, brought together 20 participants from Balfour Beatty, AtkinsRéalis, Jacobs, and Mott MacDonald. With guidance from industry experts, the teams brainstormed innovative tools and processes for reducing carbon. This was the third such event, following previous hackathons on modern construction methods and process integration. The SDP continues to redefine contractor-designer relationships and promote the best design solutions early in project lifecycles, saving time and money. #Sustainability #CarbonReduction #EarlyCareers #Collaboration

🤝 Great discussions at RSSB's industry breakfast briefing yesterday. Our Rail Managing Director Mick Rayner shared a panel with industry leaders to discuss rail's future: optimism about GBR was high, highlighting the need for visibility on spending to plan and invest wisely.  🎯 At Balfour Beatty, we're committed to nurturing the next generation of skills and call for more coordination and targets across the sector. Making rail a desirable and safe place to work is key – from health risk assessments to near-miss reporting. Let's build a brighter future together! 🚄  #RailIndustry #GBR #FutureSkills #SafetyFirst

We are incredibly proud of our dedicated volunteers for their hard work and commitment in completing the build of a 58-meter bridge in Rebero, Rwanda as part of the Bridges to Prosperity programme. This bridge, our 8th, is a testament to the power of collaboration and the difference it can make in connecting isolated communities to essential resources like healthcare, education, and economic opportunities. Thank you to everyone involved in this incredible initiative. Here’s to building many more bridges and making a positive impact around the world! 🌍🌉 #BridgesToProsperity #BuildingConnections #CommunityImpact

📷 Snapshots from an inspiring event organized by our Gender and Allies Affinity Network in collaboration with HSBC to celebrate International Women in Engineering Day last week. 90 attendees from across the business heard from Gabby Costigan MBE, Non-Executive Director at Balfour Beatty and were invited to engage in an open and honest discussion about career progression and how we can create a more diverse and inclusive community. The energy in the room was palpable as attendees networked and engaged in meaningful conversations with Gabby, Stephen Tarr, CEO Transport, Energy & Power Major Projects and Tracey Wood, General Counsel and Gender and Allies network sponsor, amongst others. A huge thank you to everyone who attended and made this event a success. #INWED2024 #WomenInEngineering #DiversityAndInclusion

We're thrilled to announce that Balfour Beatty has won the prestigious Digital Construction Project of the Year Award at the Digital Construction Awards for our work on the Midland Metropolitan University Hospital. Our digital strategy has been pivotal in supporting the project completion, commissioning, and handover stages, utilising a common data environment from Viewpoint For Projects to store and track commissioning notifications.   The judges praised our project as a prime example of how the right digital tools and platforms can solve complex issues. They commended our thorough implementation and the extensive training and adoption throughout our team.   This recognition underscores our commitment to leveraging digital innovation in construction. Congratulations to everyone involved!   #DigitalConstruction #Innovation #ConstructionExcellence #DigitalAwards #MidlandMetropolitanHospital
