A fabulous day for our FAB team last week as they hosted a customer day at a very special location in France; the stunning Maison Martell Cognac! 50 of our #vineyard customers from #wine regions across #France, were invited as our guests to take part in our conference to learn more about the art of #steelmaking and the different steel making routes, from our Metallurgical Engineer, Aghiles CHIBAH. This was followed by an update on the global #steel market climate and outlook by Business Line Manager, Jakub Skraba, as well as an update on the progress on our actions to reduce #CO2 emissions with our XCarb® recycled and renewably produced Crapal®Optimum vineyard products. A rooftop lunch followed the conference where our guests enjoyed networking and discussing the market challenges of today with their industry peers. The day concluded with a tour of the beautiful historic Martell cellars, a visit to Martell Corporate Foundation art exhibition, and of course, some very important Cognac tasting! 😊 Special thanks to Senior Sales Manager, Muriel Fournier, for the excellent organisation of such a thoroughly pleasant and enjoyable day for our customers! ✨

Our Bissen plant had the pleasure of welcoming the team from Habo Belgium BVBA yesterday. The visitors enjoyed an informative tour of the Bissen manufacturing site, led by our Head of Quality Igor Baer, and Senior Sales Manager Jens Nagorny, as well as a training session on our industry renowned Crapal® vineyard products. The team learned the science behind the Crapal® brand and how product longevity is achieved, as well as how our XCarb® recycled and renewably produced Crapal® #vineyard wires can help improve the #sustainability of #viticulture and the #wine making industry 🍇 A Certificate of Dealership was also presented to Peter Hanssens and jamie grindley, officially certifying Habo Belgium BVBA as a Crapal® vineyard products distributor. A really productive day for our Fibres team on Thursday at the MPA Precast & Masonry event. Steel fibre reinforced concrete has been used for many years in the manufacture of #precast #tunnel lining segments, and it is encouraging to now see a much increased appetite from the precast industry for this innovative #reinforcement method to be used in the manufacture of other precast #concrete elements. With steel fibre manufacture at our Sonasid plant in Nador, Morocco, now in full swing, last week was the ideal time for our Fibres team to take part in a special “Experts Talk” event hosted by our GROUPE SONASID colleagues. Steel fibre reinforcement is a common method of concrete reinforcement in many markets, but is still a relatively new reinforcing method for the #construction industries of North Africa, so the event was a great opportunity for our team to share their expert knowledge and experience of steel fibre reinforced concrete (SFRC) and its applications. From our Engineering and Sales team of Sébastien Wolf (Head of Engineering and R&D), Bruno Rossi (Business Development and Technical Manager Underground), Rémy ROLAND (Technical Manager - France, Southern Europe & Africa), and Mohammed BENHAYOUNE (Senior Sales Manager Africa) our participants learned how: 🏗 Steel fibres can be used efficiently, safely and sustainably in concrete reinforcement for flooring, buildings, tunnelling, precast and infrastructure applications, fully or partially replacing traditional rebar reinforcement. 📄 SFRC is now present in several design codes, such as in the Annex L of the New EuroCode 2 “Design of concrete structures”. 👩🔬 SFRC is a very ductile material when used with fibres with high tensile strength wire, and how ArcelorMittal is mastering the use of different steel grades, to achieve tensile strengths from 1200MPa up to 2450MPa for our 3+ quality (5 times the tensile strength of steel rebar). 🌍 Global Warming Potential (GWP) can be reduced by up to 90% when using XCarb® recycled and renewably produced steel fibres compared to traditional BOF production route steel fibres. Our GROUPE SONASID team are hosting a conference next week on #steel fibre reinforced #concrete and its applications at Ecole Hassania des Travaux Publics, Casablanca. With steel fibres now being produced at our Nador site in Morocco, this is the perfect opportunity for our team to demonstrate to the #construction markets of North Africa, how steel fibres can be used in applications such as industrial flooring, tunnelling, mining, precast, buildings and infrastructure, and why they are increasingly becoming the concrete reinforcement method of choice.
