Last week our Atherstone Distribution Centre received a special delivery: the first trailer full of great Aldi products delivered by our logistics partner Armstrong Logistics in their new Electric HGV! This #PlasticFreeJuly, we wanted to give a shout out to our amazing Plastics and Packaging team, who are continuously working to reduce plastic waste. ♻️ They’ve rolled out some amazing initiatives that are making a real change, check them out below. 👇 🧈 Our new recyclable wrap on two of our own-label butter lines will help to remove more than 10 tonnes of non-recyclable packaging from circulation 🧸 17 million pieces of plastic packaging removed from our Specialbuys over the past year 🦷 Our Dentitex Soft and Whitening toothbrushes will now have a cardboard alternative helping to remove an estimated 17 tonnes of plastic packaging per year 🧻 We’re trialling double toilet rolls to reduce plastic waste, which if rolled out across all stores, could remove over 60 tonnes of plastic packaging 🍺 Fully recyclable packaging on our own-label-four-pack beers removes 95 tonnes of plastic packaging per year Well done team 👏 To hear more about our sustainability efforts, head to: https://lnkd.in/eEP5mc7R #Aldi #AldiCareers #AldiMeansMore #EverydayAmazing #PlasticFreeJuly

At the start of June, we celebrated #WorldOceanDay by taking part in a beach clean at Southend-On-Sea! 🌊 We are proud to partner with Marine Conservation Society as the biggest corporate sponsor of their Beachwatch program. Beachwatch supports more than 15,000 volunteers to organise and take part in 1200 beach cleans a year, helping to reduce beach litter and campaign for positive change. 💚 For June’s clean, Aldi colleagues Georgia and Beth had the pleasure of taking part. Georgia explained how ‘it was great to gain a better understanding of the work that the Marine Conservation Society does and also contribute some time to help better the environment. The event was well organised and a great way to interact with other like-minded people while also opening our eyes to the importance of keeping our beaches clean and volunteering to collect valuable data.
