How many CDM jobs did you apply for before getting your first role in the sector….. The increasing diversity of the tasks involved in clinical data management are making the roles more appealing to a wider range of candidates. A recent ACDM LinkedIn poll suggested that the entry requirements for new clinical data managers are becoming more specific and more challenging. This may mean that certain individuals are having to apply for more jobs before they secure their first role in the function. Are the entry requirements for a new clinical data manager becoming more specific and more challenging than they used to be........ There has never been a more interesting time to work in clinical data management. The role has changed considerably over the last two decades and more so over the last few years. These changes have not only created a difference in the day-to-day tasks of a clinical data management, but have also created new roles and new career paths. These are great opportunities if you are already in a CDM role but what if you are looking to get into the industry. Have the entry requirements become more specific and more challenging? We asked this question in a recent ACDM LinkedIn Poll. The results were (N=142): Yes: 81% No: 19% It will be interesting to explore these results further. Sometimes it is more than clinical data management...... it is about people.... Bringing the global clinical data management community together involves more than just discussing the sector. Meeting people in person allows us to get to know each other, share different cultures, and exchange unique experiences. At each ACDM event, we always include time for networking. We also ensure there's time to relax, get to know everyone a little better, and spend some informal time together. This approach was evident in Basel at the recent 3rd Annual ACDM Symposium on Artificial Intelligence. The Networking Evening, sponsored by Medidata Solutions, provided an ideal setting for attendees to truly connect. It allowed them to build new professional relationships and personal friendships, fostering a sense of community within the sector.
