Instead of picking a gender you're most comfortable with, you may consider picking a gender the gate agent will most likely be comfortable with, since they are the only person you need to pick it for.

Certainly not reasonable advise for visiting any country without the X option. If I were transgender I would at least triple check it's safe before even considering traveling to certain countries.
