  • @ArturoTorresSánchez - does it really matter? He paid for both seats, he gets to use both seats. If a little fabrication saves him explaining whatever it is he doesn't want to discuss in public here, who cares.

  • @gerrit Based on some accidental experience, if you make the seat look occupied by, for example, putting the tray table down and leaving your book and empty cup on it, the flight attendant may be confused enough to ask if you know "the other person's" meal preference.
