  • This is an important point. I used to be puzzled at how vehicles could be "stuck on the tracks", but that was before a level crossing near where I lived, spanned by metal platforms, was starting to collapse in small sections! I called the train company and they repaired it by completely replacing the metal with solid concrete. I hope anyone who sees such a degraded crossing will do the same. The railroad companies will fix them; they aren't interested in killing people.
